With the current recession, many businesses have been forced to close due to lack of business, funding, and more. Former G-Unit member Young Buck’s [click to read] clothing line, David Brown Clothing, can now be added to that list of failing businesses.
Not even a year after it was put on the market, Buck’s signature line has been forced to shut down. There has been no official statement yet on why the clothing line was shut down, but aside from the recession possible reasons could have been lack of interest and/or overpriced clothing.
“I just got my clothing label, David Brown Clothing,” Buck excitedly told HipHopDX shortly before his line debuted at the MAGIC fashion tradeshow in Las Vegas. “You can go to www.davidbrownclothing.com to see a couple pieces of the gear, and there’s also a link to check out my watch, the Ten-A-Key Timepiece. The hustle continues. If you or anybody else has a hustle I can get my hands into let me know. If there’s some real, legal money in it, then we might just jump right off in that shit.”
Ironically, David Brown Clothing was started while Young Buck was still with G-Unit and G-Unit Records. 50 Cent officially revealed that Buck was out of G-Unit on April 7 of last year when 50 was interviewed by Miss Jones of New York’s HOT 97 [click to read].
While there are still many Hip Hop clothing lines being created, a handful of them are actually putting out affordable clothing. Russell Simmons recently launched his new American Classics clothing line at Wal-Mart stores across the country. And rapper turned entrepreneur LL Cool J also released an affordable clothing line recently at department store Sears [click to read].
