YFN Lucci‘s lawyers have demanded that their client either get a speedy trial, or has the charges against him dismissed.
Court documents obtained by HipHopDX reveal that law firm Banks Weaver filed the motion on Wednesday (August 30). The demand for a speedy trial is one that is considered a “human right,” which prevents the prosecutor from delaying a criminal trial indefinitely.

Within the motion, Banks Weaver demanded that either the embattled rapper be given a trial date in short order, or that the charges against him be dismissed.

Thus far, the prosecution hasn’t filed an answer in opposition to the demand, and it’s unclear whether they’ll oppose the motion.
Should YFN Lucci’s lawyers motion be granted, however, the charges don’t automatically get dismissed. Rather, Banks Weaver must once again bring yet another motion before the court demanding the charges be dismissed.

In June, it was revealed that the Young Thug associate was reportedly offered a sweetheart plea deal. The rapper, who is currently sitting behind bars with regards to his alleged involvement in a murder that left a 28-year-old man dead, was hit with the RICO charges while he was out on bond for the alleged murder.
The sweetheart plea deal will reportedly give the rapper (real name Rayshawn Bennett) 20 years behind bars for all crimes — including the RICO crimes — for which he must serve at least 17 “inside.”
Though the plea deal hadn’t been confirmed, it was confirmed on June 10 that the sweetheart plea deal was indeed offered to the “Man Down” rapper — who outright rejected the offer, according to TMZ.
“His attorneys, Drew Findling and Gabe Banks, tell us the plea offer is “absurd,” and they strongly hinted the D.A. is intentionally dragging her feet — they point out Lucci is still waiting to go to trial after 2.5 years in custody,” reported the outlet.

Findling and Banks also raised questions about the competency of the Fulton County prosecutor, Fani Willis (the same prosecutor bringing charges against Donald Trump), and suggested that she had an “inability” to prosecute complex cases like the YSL RICO case.
