Yayo’s Lawyer Says Witness Will Prove Innocence

Yesterday (Sept. 6), Tony Yayo’s attorney Scott Leemon told Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Neil E. Ross that he has a witness who will prove his client’s innocence.

Leemon claims to have obtained a sworn statement from a witness who is sure that another man committed the crime for which Yayo is being accused. Yayo is charged with assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child after being accused of slapping and punching the 14-year old son of Jimmy “Henchmen” Rosemond, manager of such acts as The Game.

Judge Ross suggested to Leemon that the prosecutors interview the man as soon as possible; he also rejected a request by Leemon for access to emails sent between Rosemond and his public relations firm.

Yayo’s trial is set to begin in December, and he is currently out on $5,000 bail.
