No one wants a renegade as a neighbor, just ask the residents of 195 Hudson St. Jay-Z is very interested in buying the Tribeca duplex penthouse and has been three times to check out the 12,000 square foot property. The tenants have even gone as far as saying that they will sue current owners Sara and Peter Arnell if they sell to the Jiggaman. Other tenants fear that Jay-Z will endanger them because of his lifestyle.
“It’s not just that Jay-Z is controversial, he’s dangerous,” said one owner. “We wouldn’t care if someone controversial like Howard Stern wanted to move in. And we’re outraged that a top agency like Insignia Douglas Elliman would even be showing the property to someone like Jay-Z.”
The market price of the penthouse is currently $7.25 million, it features 9000 square feet of living space and a 3000 square foot terrace. Oddly enough, Arnell, an advertising guru, is the man credited with engineering Jay’s plug for Motorola two-ways in “I Just Wanna Love U.” The list of other people checking out the house are Nicole Kidman and Will Smith and Jada.
