Will Smith Was A ‘Hotter’ Rapper Than 2Pac In The ’90s, Argues Wack 100

Will Smith was a way better rapper than 2Pac, according to Wack 100, who made his point with a complete lack of restraint.

During an interview with DCTHETRUTH that premiered on Sunday (October 15), the manager and entrepreneur went off while addressing comparisons between Smith and the late legend. In doing so, he made sure to give the Fresh Prince his flowers.

“Put some respect on Will Smith name, bro,” he began. “The only thing ‘Pac did better than Will was got killed better in real life. Other than that, he can’t fuck with Will on nothing. Music-wise, Will was hotter than ‘Pac. Will was hotter than ‘Pac before ‘Pac was hot — this a fact.”

About the rapper-turned-actor also elevating DJ Jazzy Jeff during his ascension, he added: “And guess what? He did something ‘Pac didn’t do. Ya’ll ready for this one? He put his DJ on. What’s ‘Pac DJ name? What’s Will Smith DJ name?”

With Jada Pinkett Smith doing a press tour for her upcoming book, Worthy, Will Smith and 2Pac’s names have been coming up a lot given her proximity to both at different times in her life.

Most recently, the 52-year-old said that she believes both titans could’ve been close friends had the Death Row MC survived the fatal 1996 Las Vegas shooting. The Matrix actor sat down with Jay Shetty for an episode of his On Purpose podcast earlier this week, during which she predicted their bond had things turned out differently.

She also explained that the California legend lent his stamp of approval when she started dating Will, without saying a word.

“If ‘Pac had survived Vegas, he and Will would’ve ended up being really good friends,” she said. “They would’ve had a lot to offer each other. Funny enough, Will was the only person when I started dating him, ‘Pac never said anything.

“If I dated anybody else, ‘Pac had something to say. He didn’t think anybody was good enough, which I understand. But when I started dating Will, he didn’t say anything. Which meant to me, in his own way, he approved. He didn’t say anything. Not a word, which made me believe he approved.”

    1. Sales wise in the 90’s they’re close but the numbers are on Pac’s side. Will had 4 albums, two solo, two with Jazzy Jeff (Platimum, GOld, 9x plat, 3x plat). Pac had 4 albums (gold, plat, 2x plat, diamond), but if you include Makaveli which came out just after he died (4x plat) or the posthumous albums (4xplat and platinum) then Pac had 9 million more albums sold than Will. It’s more of a matter of preference as they weren’t catering to the same crowd. I think Pac had more of a cultural influence in his music than Will could ever have.

      1. @Silent Partner – that’s far from the truth. DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince albums were late 80’s early 90’s. When he went solo he had several albums, two in the late 90’s that sold a total of 12 million albums. Think “gettin jiggy with it” era…

    2. I’m not a 2Pac fan but even I don’t agree with that load of bs. 2Pac was a better rapper than Will Smith. No contest.

    3. This dude is buggin.. I’m convinced he says shit like this just to stay in the headlines.. yes, Will was on in the late 80s before Pac was, and had decent success early on. Summertime was huge when it dropped in 91 and obviously a timeless classic that still gets burn. But the last Jazzy & Fresh LP from 93 was a dud… and then Will took a break from music for a few years, til 97, when Pac was already gone. His first solo LP in 97 was huge and almost diamond, but that in no way makes him HOTTER than Pac. FOH… plus, Will’s fanbase at that point was largely suburban and white, young kids and some middle aged and older folk, and even a good amount of people that didnt even listen to hip-hop. Casual listeners who wanted some “safe”, easily digestible stuff that gets played on mainstream/top 40 radio and not offend or shock anyone, and likely barely even notice that its hip-hop. Nothing wrong with that, but in no way does that make Will a hotter rapper than Pac at ANY point post-“Summertime.”

    4. Will Smith’s rap career was over by the 90s. Not to mention that Pac’s the GOAT rapper by any measure. This dumbass be saying anything. The meat of his rap career was from like 1987 to 1991. Summertime came out in 1991. Even he said he had lost everything by then and was trying to reinvent himself.

      1. except that isn’t even close to being true. Big Willie Styles came out in 97 and sold 9 million albums. Willenium came out in 99 and sold another 3 million albums. It was essentially pop music, but Getin Jiggy With It, Men In Black, Miami, Just the Two of Us, and Wild Wild West sold a lot of copies and were on the radio all day.

    5. I don’t agree, because Will Smith was a superstar ENTERTAINER in the 90s. Miami, Jiggy wit It, Men in Black, were huge crossover hits that even your mother knew. However, a big part of this was because he also had a popular TV show and several blockbuster movies. The biggest entertainer, yes. But rapper? He only dropped 2 albums in the 90s, Pac did 6, and he died in 96!

      1. He dropped 4 albums in the 90’s. Two of them were with Jazzy Jeff in the early 90’s. His solo career was 90’s.

    6. I think wack 100 means he was hotter because he was the bigger artist in means of success and sales but Pac was the better Emcee period. Don’t get messed up I’m from Philly and Fresh Prince battle and smoked emcees with no cursing Prince could really rhyme but he mostly did that pop rap so his battle rhymes are overlooked.

    7. If we talking spittin skills and flow.
      Pac HANDS DOWN.
If we talking numbers, i hate to say it Will has most of hip hop beat.
Im serious, go check the numbers on this dude, its insane some of his accomplishments. His acting overshadowed his career, as well as his persona, even while rapping. As he did not go the route and kept it “Cosby”, he gets easily dismissed, but numbers still don’t lie. Do your homework and come back and tell me Will can’t be part of the GOAT discussion.
