Tiara Thomas, the singer-songwriter who was featured on Wale’s “Bad,” has signed to Division1/Interscope Geffen A&M, according to XXLmag.com. Division1 is the label owned by producer Rico Love, who has worked with Usher, Nelly and Beyonce, among others. He launched the imprint in 2010.
“I’m extremely excited about Tiara Thomas being a member of the Division1 family,” Rico Love says according to XXL. “She’s an amazing talent, phenomenal vocalist, and one of the most creative songwriters I’ve heard in a while. We’re anxious to see how the world receives her. We have no doubt that they’ll love her as much as we do.”
“Tiara is a gifted and versatile artist,” added John Janick, President of Interscope Geffen A&M, as per XXL. “We’re excited to work with Rico and Divison1 to develop and expose her extraordinary talent.”
“Bad” is culled from Wale’s forthcoming The Gifted album, which is slated for a June 25 release. Tiara Thomas also appeared with Wale on his 2010 mixtape “More About Nothing” on the song “The Cloud.”
Last week, Wale spoke with New York radio station Hot 97 regarding Tiara Thomas. The Maybach Music Group artist says he “was a casualty of the game” because he did not sign Tiara Thomas, who also raps. “That bitter reality just hit me,” Wale says during the interview. “But it’s all good. Shout out to Tiara Thomas and her new situation.”
When pressed by Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg to elaborate on why he did not sign Tiara Thomas, the Washington, D.C. rapper initially declined. “I don’t want to go there,” he says. “Shout out to Tiara Thomas, though.”
Later in the interview, Wale does expound, though. “I don’t believe in paperwork too soon, ’cause I like to show and prove what I can do,” he says. “I kick myself before I complain about somebody else…She just did what she felt like was in her best interest.”
Wale not too happy about that, gotta get that paper work straight homie. Check out thegrandreport, they got some good stuff on there too
good move. would have been a terrible idea to sign a deal with wale

Congrats to Tiara Thomas but has Rico Love actually put out any albums from his label. Dude signed Tiearra Marie, Young Chris, and a couple of other artists like three years ago and no albums from them yet.
maybe they aint tryna put out albums that no one is gonna buy
maybe they just gonna write singles for chumps like wale
Teairra Mari and Young Chris didn’t sell any records with Rocafella so makes you think they will for this record label?

She was smart not to sign with Wale. Sign with someone who can get you airplay and a debut album dropped. Wale’s other artist signed to his label (BOA) which released no albums under the label. Some of these artist have been signed for up to four years with no album releases under the record label! Ultimately, she made a wise choice signing with hit-maker Rico Love.
