Waka Flocka Flame Says Being In Love Is “Like A Holy Ghost Feeling”

Waka Flocka Flame released the Salute Me Or Shoot Me mixtape series and scored a breakthrough hit in 2010 with the strip club anthem “No Hands,” but the 27-year-old rapper says that his life changed when he realized how significant his then-girlfriend was to him.

“Every girl I’m meeting now just want my check,” Waka Flocka Flame says during an interview with NiteCap with Peter Bailey. “Like, they don’t even want to meet you. They don’t care two cents about what you got going on. Plus, I know her. That became my best friend. So I called her again like, ‘Yo, man. I want to go all the way.’ She like, ‘Yo, Waka. You still wanna be a boy.’ So I had to play the cat and the mouse game. Then it all worked out. I feel like I’d rather hand her the world then hand her my hand.”

Waka Flocka Flame proposed to Tammy Rivera on his birthday, May 31. She accepted and Waka Flocka Flame says that Rivera having a daughter made their relationship stronger. At first, though, the Atlanta artist wasn’t sure what he thought of his Rivera having a child.

“It grew on me,” he says during the interview. “In the beginning, I was scared of it. I’m like, ‘Yo. I can’t date no girl with no baby. I’m still having fun.’ Next thing you know, it’s my daughter. I’m like, ‘Yo. This is my daughter. Let’s go get your hair done. Let’s do this. Let’s do that.’ Everything she do is cute. I could go outside, I could break my leg, when I come in the house, she’ll make you feel like your leg ain’t never break.”

Waka Flocka Flame says that Rivera’s daughter has a great father, which also makes the situation better. In fact, Waka Flocka Flame says that Rivera’s daughter often changes his mood for the better.

“I could be mad,” says the rapper, who has said that his Flockaveli 2 project will be released in early 2014. “I call her, she lightens you up all the way. ‘Dad, I baked some cookies…’ It just makes you become a man. I’m her hero. I can’t let her down. If I’m the man she look up to in her life and I let her down, she gonna expect that from every other man from this day forward.”

Although he’s known for rowdy music, Waka Flocka Flame says that being in love has certainly changed him. “If I could tell you what love feel like, I’d be a liar,” he says. “It’s still new…It’s a feeling. It’s like a Holy Ghost feeling.”
