On Thursday (April 11), the R&B icon was named one of ESSENCE‘s “Sexiest Men of the Moment” along with Russell Wilson and Damson Idris.

There’s been a boost in appreciation for the 45-year-old superstar over the past year as he performed at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show earlier this year and concluded his 100-date residency at the park MGM in Las Vegas just months before.

Prior to wrapping up his three-year stint in the Entertainment Capital of the World, City Councilman Cedric Crear and Mayor Carolyn Goodman celebrated the R&B icon by declaring it Usher Raymond Day and handing him a key to the city.

“Councilman, thank you so much for this momentous moment,” the 45-year-old singer said during his acceptance speech in October. “I know the efforts that go into doing something like this and I don’t take it for granted.

“I wanna thank you for your belief in the future and your ability to be able to recognize those things that actually do grow your city. I am someone who is not just contributing by way of entertainment, but also to the heartbeat of the city.”
