Uncle Luke has shared the story of the time he tried to squash the infamous beef between 2Pac and Biggie.

While talking to fans on Instagram Live on Saturday (May 11), the 2 Live Crew legend remembered his attempts to broker peace between the two rap stars, whose high-profile rivalry ultimately — and tragically — contributed to their untimely demise.

“I remember when 2Pac and Biggie had the beef going on. Now, mind you, I tried to get in the middle of it and squash it,” he said. “I kinda cooled it off, but it was a little too late. Outside people got involved.”

Luke continued: “Man, I remember going to St. Louis doing a show with Biggie. I went on before him and by the time he got to the stage, them people were screaming ‘2Pac.’ They was singing 2Pac songs.

“That is the most discouraging thing when you in a battle, when you in the heat of a battle on tour, that people would go to the stadium and don’t even wanna hear your songs.”

Uncle Luke isn’t the first Hip Hop figure to regret being unable to help deescalate the tension between 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G.

Last summer, Warren G reflected on having the chance to change Hip Hop history as it pertained to the late rap legends.

“I pulled up, Biggie was right there, we was chopping it up about everything,” Warren said on Drink Champs. “With him and 2Pac, them having beef and shit. He was just like, ‘He tripping on me.’ He was telling me everything.

“So I said, ‘How about this? This what I’ll do. When I get at ‘Pac, I’ll say I talked to this n-gga Biggie, and this what he said. You n-ggas get this shit together and stop that shit.’”

Warren G continued: “But I couldn’t get to [2Pac] because it was all the other muthafuckas that was around. To really talk to him about what [Biggie] said. I was tryna get the message to him.”

N.O.R.E. then chimed in and wondered if, in an alternate universe, Warren G could’ve somehow stopped the feud between Biggie and ‘Pac.

“It probably wouldn’t have been as bad,” Warren agreed. “Well, I would’ve pulled [2Pac] to the side and really talked to him. Like, ‘Look, this what this n-gga told me.’”
