Tyler, The Creator counts fashion designer, director and producer — not to mention Grammy-winning rapper — on his decorated résumé, but now it appears he’s looking to make his mark in another creative field.

On Monday (October 7), the multi-hyphenate hinted at pursuing an acting career while commenting on an Instagram post from friend and collaborator Steve Lacy.

In response to Lacy venting about people asking him for an update on his new album before even saying “hello,” Tyler wrote: “[I] feel you shit is annoying especially when i never said out my mouth an album was coming.”

He then added: “[I] wanna be an actress lmfao.”

Tyler, The Creator will soon be able to show off his acting chops in Marty Supreme, which will mark his debut feature film role.

As reported last month, Tyler will share the screen with some big names as the cast also includes Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Directed by Josh Safdie (Uncut Gems, Good Time), the movie is reportedly inspired by the story of pro ping pong player Marty Reisman, who was “known for his flamboyant style and exceptional skill.”

Though this will be Tyler’s first gig as a budding movie star, he previously co-created and starred in the Adult Swim comedy skit show Loiter Squad, hosted the Viceland show Nuts & Bolts and created and wrote for the Adult Swim animated series The Jellies!

He also has experience as a voice actor, lending his distinct voice to shows such as Big Mouth, Black Dynamite and Regular Show.

As for his music career, Tyler’s last project Call Me If You Get Lost: The Estate Sale arrived in 2023 and served as a deluxe edition of his Grammy-winning 2021 album.

The eight-track offering included collaborations with A$AP Rocky, YG and Vince Staples, as well as production from Kanye West, Madlib and himself.

Despite being comprised of bonus songs, The Estate Sale still made a splash on the charts, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with almost 70,000 first-week units.
