Chicago’s Twista has segued nicely into independence. As one of Koch Records‘ newer signees, the fast-spitting emcee has secured distribution for his Get Money Gang imprint, and will release an album from his longtime group Speedknot Mobstaz on May 27.
Mobstability II: Nation Bizness is billed as the follow-up to 1998’s Mobstability, released on Creator’s Way/Big Beat Records, which would garner the group a gold plaque. “No lie, this album is on some real
street shit – none of that ringtone shit. This music we’re putting
out is for the everyday hustla on the grind. It’s been a long time coming
for me and the crew, now that everything is in place we can finally
give the fans what they want,” commented Speedknot member Liffy Stokes.
The single “Money To Blow” will be premiering on BET‘s Rap City next week. “Expect to hear real music
coming from the heart of the Chi. I am dedicated to making this GMG
label a movement first in Chicago, then nationwide. If you got real
talent and about getting money, then you got a spot at my label,” said Twista.
Twista and the Speedknot Mobstaz have recently been added to the Rock The Vote lineup.
