Trina is standing on business despite the backlash she’s receiving for dubbing Beyoncé as “the No. 1 female rapper.”
The Miami native’s original comments arrived in an interview with HipHopDX, published on Wednesday (December 27) in which she credited Bey for inspiring female rappers to level up.

“Because she is the No. 1 female rapper when she does rap,” Trina stated. “There’s no sleeping on the Queen. It’s just one of those things, of course, it’s the Queen Beyoncé, but when you hearing a song and it’s rapping involved it’s like, oh my God — it’s more inspiration.”
The comment sparked quite a bit the debate on social media, with more than a handful of fans questioning Trina’s reasoning. As the chatter began bubbling on Thursday afternoon (December 28), the Diamond Princess doubled down while taking the comments in stride.

Taking to her Instagram Story, the “Don’t Trip” rapper responded to the backlash and reiterated her stance.
“For the dusty crusty funky bitches in the bacccckkkk,” she began with yelling emojis. “Beyoncé is the queen of rap (when she raps) and ALL other genres of music. Now stay mad goofy’s I said what I said and NAAN bitch gone check me [middle finger emoji] carry on!”

However, as the story picked up steam, with multiple outlets sharing the DX clip, Trina offered a much more serious response on her main Instagram feed alongside a photo of Beyoncé.
“Now that I have y’all undivided attention [double exclamation point emoji] I am actually late to the party bcuz I wasn’t aware of this nonsense happening today bcuz Im too busy minding my business,” she started. “Let me just make myself CLEAR once again, since it’s a slow day for the blogs and bullshit, this interview was back in October at The One Music Festival.. I rlly don’t give a rats ass how anybody feel, I said what I said .. that’s the Queen Bey and I’m gonna STAN [bee emoji] on that.”

She continued: “Beyonce is the Queen of rap (when she raps) and ALL genres of music when it comes to me [double exclamation point emoji] go argue with the IRS or somebody else idc and that’s not up for debate over here. So run along and enjoy the rest of y’all day. (And make sure to clean behind y’all sofas before the New Year).:

While the overall tone of Trina’s interview was one in which she spoke in support of all female rappers, the now viral video inevitably sparked a “Barbs vs. Beyhive” debate, with many of the commenters evoking Nicki Minaj‘s name in their arguments against Trina’s comment.
At the time of this writing, Beyoncé was still trending on X (formerly Twitter), with fans sharing everything from threads of the Houston megastar’s “rap evolution,” to interview segments in which JAY-Z spoke about his wife’s skills, to a clip of Bey paying homage to Nicki as “The Rap Queen.”

As the debate roared on, Trina’s protege and fellow Love & Hip Hop: Miami co-star Bobby Lytes chimed in on The Neighborhood Talk‘s post about the interview on Instagram, writing: “Not too much On Trina!!! Why would she say who y’all wanna hear when y’all dont even know the real tea!!! Trina has already done what needed to be done!!!!!! She’s gone platinum when CD’s were what counted for sales! Not streams!!! Shall I keep going??!”
However, Trina’s publicist, Aleesha Carter, used the same post to reiterate the fact that Trina’s love and support for Beyonce was not meant as a slight or diss towards any other artist.

“She isn’t discrediting ANY OTHER WOMAN or underrated anyone else. She is literally speaking if Bey took this serious and decided to venture into Hip Hop, it would go. Social media users will literally try to turn every and anything around against one another and definitely don’t listen to understand instead listen to just simply reply.

Mrs. Knowles-Carter’s status as a rapper may be up for debate, but her overall success certainly cannot be argued. The singer and entrepreneur is reportedly nearing billionaire status as her net worth is now estimated to be $800 million.
According to Forbes, the iconic singer has seen her wealth skyrocket in 2023 from its previous $540 million estimation.

The outlet reports that Bey personally pocketed $100 million from her widely successful Renaissance Tour, which ran from May to October this year.
The 56-show trek grossed nearly $600 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing tour by both a female act and Black act in history.

The tour’s second act, Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce has notched plenty of success in its own right, landing among the top five highest grossing concert films ever made within less than three weeks of its December 1 release.
The movie, which follows the recording of Bey’s Renaissance album and her global tour of the same name, had reportedly pulled in just over $30 million at the U.S. box office by December 19.

That makes it the fifth highest-grossing concert film of all time, putting Beyoncé in the company of fellow superstars like Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber.
