TLC’s Chilli Reacts To Weezer’s “No Scrubs” Cover

Alternative rock band Weezer surprised released a new covers album titled Weezer (The Teal Album) earlier this week. Among the songs included on the project was a revision of TLC’s chart-topping hit, “No Scrubs.”

Chilli, one of two surviving members of the Grammy Award-winning group, jumped on Twitter to weigh in on the song. Apparently, she approves.

“This #NoScrubs cover by @Weezer is AWESOME!!!” she tweeted. “but it would be even better if we sang it with ya’ll!!! I see a TLC Weezer concert coming up..lol.”

TLC recorded “No Scrubs” for 1999’s FanMail. It marked the trio’s third No. 1 single and eighth Top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100. It also earned TLC its second Grammy Award nomination for Record of the Year and was the second-biggest Hot 100 single of 1999 behind Cher’s “Believe.”

Weezer’s lead singer Rivers Cuomo does his best to recreate a rock-infused version of the classic cut. He also takes a stab at Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World.”

    1. Listened to this earlier. If you ever stray outside of rap music this is actually a pretty cool little album definitely worth a spin.

    2. I mean we are all supposed to left wing commies these days but dude could have changed the “he” to “she” in the lyrics.
