Concert promoters Guerilla Union and Cypress Hill are announcing their plans to provide prescription-card carrying marijuana users with a safe place to smoke at this year’s Smokeout Festival. The concert organizers are using the San Bernardino festival as a platform to discuss patient’s rights. Chang Weisberg, of Guerilla Union, tells Ballerstatus.com, “I am thrilled that our plan for the first-ever, patient-only medical marijuana consumption area in Southern California was approved today after years of hard work and positive marijuana policy.”
Marijuana enthusiasts and Rap veteran B-Real agrees, “I am really happy that the patients that are coming to hear us play will also be able to have a safe place to consume medical marijuana without fear or having to hide in the shadows.” The stoner safe-haven is legal in California thanks to the passing of the groundbreaking Compassionate Use Act of 1996 which first made it legal for medically prescribed users to buy and consume pot.
The concert will take place in San Bernardino on October 16 with a lineup featuring Erykah Badu, Nas and Damien Marley, Cypress Hill, Atmosphere, and many more.
