The Source and Reebok (or for those who don’t know, now called RBK), have teamed up to present the Unsigned Hype Freestyle Competition. The Source has always had a column dedicated to the artist trying to get a deal, called “Unsigned Hype.” Over the years it has featured the likes of Biggie and Eminem. Now in conjunction with RBK they will have a freestyle competition for unsigned artists.
From May 15 and to June 30 heads all over the United States can pick up an entry form from any Reebok/RBK retailers. The idea is to make a demo with lyrics that incorporate Reebok/RBK 13, X-Beam, Allen Iverson, Steve Francis, Jevon Kearse, Above the Rim, etc. Contestants will be judged on originality and flow. The grand prizewinner will win a one-year endorsement contract with RBK, a first class trip to the Source Awards, an appearance in their favorite hip-hop artist signed to Interscope Record’s video and a chance at being featured in the “Unsigned Hype” column in The Source.
