The LOX took Hot 97’s Summer Jam to another level when they brought out Rakim in celebration of Hip Hop 50 to perform as a special guest.

Summer Jam relocated from Metlife Stadium to Long Island’s UBS Arena for Sunday night’s show (June 4) where Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch touched the stage.

The Yonkers-bred trio surprised the New York fans by bringing out The God MC to perform 1986’s “Eric B. Is President.”

“We bringing out somebody that meant so much to us my n-gga,” Sheek said.

Rakim hit the stage in a red tracksuit and matching New York Yankees fitted as he heard a roar from the crowd, who vociferously rapped along to his “Eric B. Is President” anthem.

“Real Hip Hop shit,” Kiss added on the mic.

The Hip Hop Wolfreposted a clip from Rakim’s homecoming performance as it drew rave reviews from fans happy to see the rap legend.

“See Kids this what longevity looks like,” one person wrote while another chimed in: “The definition of hip hop!”

It was a historic night inside UBS Arena where Fivio Foreign, Lil Tjay, HipHopDX 2023 Rising Star Ice Spice, Lola Brooke, Coi Leray and more performed with Cardi B serving as the festival’s headliner.

With Hip Hop 50 in full swing, Rakim is booked and busy for 2023 in the U.S. and he announced last month that his European tour dates slated for later in June have been postponed once again.

“I’m unfortunately postponing the planned European concerts scheduled in June 2023,” he began. “As the world celebrates the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop, I’ve been blessed with so many calls and invitations to represent the pioneers of this genre at innumerable once-in-a-generation events and awards.

“These blessings have unfortunately created so many calendar conflicts that it’s simply not possible to travel internationally and still put on the undistracted shows Europe deserves after so many years.”

He continued: “Stick with me if you can. Our production partners in the UK, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands have already been able to reschedule and we expect the rest of the shows to have new dates announced shortly. All tickets shall remain valid or be available for a refund. Please check with your local venue for more information.”
