The Clipse Sound off on Neptunes Beat Controversy

As we mentioned earlier in the week, The Clipse
are finally ready to unleash Hell Hath No Fury. However, it doesn’t
come without some controversy. The duo’s next single Wamp Wamp (What it Do)
    appears to hold some history.

According to the crew, the beat was originally Foxy
    Brown’s
. However, when the rapper lost her hearing, her label
passed the beat down to The Clipse. Now, the label wants the
beat back but The Clipse aren’t budging.

“From what I understand, the beat was originally
made for Foxy Brown with Slim [already on the hook],”

Pusha T told MTV in a recent interview.

“Then Foxy’s hearing problem kicked in. After that
    happened,
    Pharrell and Jay-Z had a
conversation — I wasn’t there — they basically said she was counted out. We
liked the beat. It was passed over,”
    he contined.

    Jay-Z supposedly
came like, ‘Oh, she’s back. Let’s get that beat back.’ That’s where all the
    discrepancy came from,”
    he explained.

“With us, it ain’t no controversy…We followed the
same protocol we would with any other beat. We hear it, we like it, we get it
    from
Pharrell. We ain’t go behind nobody’s
back to get this beat. When we get a beat, it’s never contingent on ‘maybe this
or that.’ I don’t even sit down and write like that. If [a track] is mine, I do
my thing to it. I don’t write and wait and see. … Maybe it’s an issue with
    Pharrell
and his people. As far as I’m concerned, it’s ours. We got the
record; there’s nothing to talk about. I ain’t got no problem with nobody. I’m
great. The best thing that came out of all this is that she got her hearing
    back,”
     Malice added.

The duo aren’t simply planning to keep the beat. They are
also planning to shoot a video for the song, which will be the second single
    following Mr. Me Too.

The album, Hell Hath No Fury will be released
    October 31.
