After winning $7.3 million from Pharrell and Robin Thicke, Marvin Gaye’s estate is going after T.I., who laid a verse on the heavily successful “Blurred Lines” track.
TMZ recently caught up with the Atlanta-based artist and asked him about the lawsuit. Tip says he’s going to let “the universe” take care of everything and that he doesn’t steal music when creating his own.
“I don’t know what’s going on,” he said when asked about the lawsuit. “I never really got caught up in that. I have nothing but admiration and respect for the legacy and the estate of Marvin Gaye and I’ve got nothing but extreme admiration for my partner Pharrell, whatever happen with it, the universe will deal with it. I’m a writer, I’m a creator, I don’t steal from anybody creatively when I create my music. I know that anybody with common sense can see that.”
The lawsuit involving Pharrell and Thicke set a new precedent when it comes to sampling music. The Gaye family says the two cleared more than $5 million a piece from the song’s creation.

why they going after t.i. he didnt make the beat, use the sample or steal the melody… he just laid a verse.
How it goes. His name is on the copyright of the song as a writer, so he made money on it, so he gonna have to break the Gaye family off too. Usually when this kind of stuff happens, they’ll sue down to the little people like the engineers and stuff.
Those that steal rarely confess. It is all these people that made millionaires off of the originators that will do anything to protect their fake empires, least of all, lying. For years, it was people like Pharrell that kept the STEAL MILL going that DETERED creatives from releasing their work into the public domain – instead they kept even copyrighted works hidden and there dreams just died, because of the likes of Pharrell creativity world-wide has been HURT, FROZEN, PARALYZED, and DESTROYED. The Government’s Copyright Office has been mocked by these thieves. But, they will of course play the propaganda, to look like the innocent people whose dreams they destroy daily. An example is instead of paying the Marvin Gaye family for the obvious thievery of the deceased Marvin, Pharrell spat on and disrespected the family with a frivolous lawsuit, to TRICK the public in thinking he was the VICTIM. Bad move, mild-mannered gangster. Good people are getting sick of the false image, helped along by the other established CONNECTED media entities. Finally all the OPPRESSED creatives can feel more confident to FREE their INSPIRATIONS believing for once the LARGEST Art Heist in History is collapsing.
greedy ass simps t.i. ain’t did shit but lay a verse they need to check themselves and count the money they already have smh
