T.I. Discusses Lil Wayne’s Comments About New York

Lil Wayne stirred up controversy when he stated “Flat out, I don’t like New York,” drawing the ire of many New York emcees and certain radio personalities. Fellow Southern artist T.I. spoke on the matter recently.

“When I first came in the game, it was a feat for a Southern artist, let alone an Atlanta artist, to make his way up to Hot 97 and get himself mix show play, let alone…heavy rotation,” said T.I. in an interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez, which naturally led to a discussion of Lil Wayne’s words.

“You gotta understand where a man coming from,” said T.I. of Weezy. “I’m not saying I support anyone not liking New York. What I’m saying is, people who haven’t gone through that process of having their freedom taken from you…you have to take all this into consideration,” explained Tip, referring to Wayne’s time spent in New York prison over a gun charge.

“I don’t think he meant nothin’ by it. I don’t think he meant any disrespect,” concluded T.I.

    1. People know wayne didnt mean any disrespect by it but theyd rather throw a fit and act butt hurt because its wayne.
Everyone has said at one time or another that they didnt like a particular thing or place but you didnt mean anything against the people in general.

    2. Wayne nor Tip know what its like having freedom taken away from them since they more or less “got off” with some shit any of us would’ve never seen the light of day again from.

Save your words. Wayne knew what the fuck he said. Unfortunately, alot of my fellow NY’ers won’t hold him to task for it. It surely is a new day.

      1. I hear you bro, but give me two years when I shoulda got twenty and I won’t walk around like I did time. That’s almost like taking credit for whipping somebody’s ass when it was your boys who did it while you spectated.

      2. Youre comparing what we wouldve gotten to what they got. But thats because you dont care for either of them.
If a judge told you tomorrow for the next year or two youre going to spend it in prison, i guarantee you that you wouldnt be happy about it. I got family thats spent a decade and family thats spent a few months and guess what, they dont want to spend ANY TIME in prison. You legit lose your freedom and become a number no matter how much time youre in there.

    3. damn right the only reason people caught feelings is cause it was Wayne, and normally I’d think T.I. shouldn’t bother defending him, but he’s also been there… and he had it much harder than Lil Wayne. I mean yeah that came down to his stupidity, but still.

      1. Naw…T.I. body guard was the informant who suggested that T.I. go by guns for the additional protection. The only law TI broke was being around being around guns while on probation.

    4. ny is 1 of the biggest/best cities in the world – this coming from a european citizen here. (I was there a few years back cool place)

      1. So why hate on any place because of your decisions? If he was built for it then deal with it and keep it pushing. He probably has bought his way out of trouble in other places and ran into the wrong place, is a chance he was prolly always willing to take and crapped out this time but that’s not NY’s fault.

    7. niggas mad cause dude has his own opinion and they don’t agree with it. stfu with that shit, there’s more important things to care about.
