SZA‘s SOS has returned to the top of the Billboard 200 thanks to her Lana deluxe album.

Originally released in 2022 to huge critical acclaim and commercial success, the project has shot back to number one following the arrival of its 15-track deluxe on December 20, according to Billboard.

For the purposes of the chart, all versions of the album are combined under the title SOS and the project has shifted 178,000 equivalent units over the last week, mostly thanks to the new release.

If Lana had been released as a standalone project, it would have still debuted atop the Billboard 200 with its 15 songs amassing 105,000 units on their own — 5,000 more than Michael Bublé’s Christmas which sits at number two on this week’s chart.

22 months have passed since SOS last topped the Billboard 200, making it the longest gap that any album has returned to the top spot.

SZA’s blockbuster sophomore LP has now spent 11 nonconsecutive weeks at number one and has never fallen out of the top 20 of the chart since its release two years ago.

SZA celebrated the continued success of SOS by telling fans “thank you” on her Instagram Stories.

She also wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “If it wasn’t for Gods favor over my life this year boyyy. My parents are healthy. won 3 Grammys. went number one again. Sang on Sesame Street. Shot a movie. Shot a vogue cover. Toured the world. Got a songwriters hall of fame award. WHO JAH BLESS NO MAN CURSE!! NO MAN!!! AMEN.”

The TDE singer additionally revealed that Lana will be updated with new songs and mixes next month, writing: “Just got word all updated Mixes and new songs will be added Jan 6th when the label comes back from holiday.

“Sorry they can’t do it any sooner [face holding back tears emoji]. Just wanted to keep yall in the loop [heart emoji] Thank yall for your patience [heart emoji].”

In other news, SZA recently addressed calls for her to make a joint album with frequent collaborator Kendrick Lamar.

The 35-year-old posted an intriguing clip on her Instagram Stories last week which led fans to think a collaborative project could be on the way.

“I speak for all Kendrick and SZA fans when I say – we need an EP bro,” the man in the clip says. “We need an entire project of Kendrick and SZA collabs. Because this chemistry is undeniable at this point! Every time they get together it’s a hit, bro!”

The former TDE labelmates have collaborated numerous times over the years, most recently on Kendrick’s GNX album (“Luther,” Gloria”) and Lana (“30 For 30”).

The pair are also hitting the road together next year on the Grand National Tour, which will see them headline arenas across North America.

The 23-date trek kicks off on April 19 in Minneapolis, MN and wraps up on June 18 in Washington, DC, with stops also scheduled in Atlanta, Chicago, Toronto, San Francisco and K. Dot’s hometown of Los Angeles, among other cities.
