Swollen Members Win 2nd Juno

It came as a big surprise to everyone last year when Swollen won for best hip hop act for their incredible debut “Balance.” The win of course came with much controversy as a lot of Toronto emcees felt that Kardinal Offishall was snubbed. The feeling was that Kardinal did a lot for hip hop in Canada in terms of gaining credibility in the States.

I guess that it didn’t matter that “Balance” was far superior than anything to come out of T.O., it should be about the music, not the impact or politics. Ja Rule made a huge impact last year but his music is god-awful. Anyhow, Swollen has done it again, this time to no surprise. Their sophomore album “Bad Dreams” took off due to their dedicated following and their huge single, “Fuel Injected.”

The other artists up for the award were Kardinal Offishall, Ghetto Concept, Solitair and Jeleestone. Congratulations goes out to S & M, rock the spot y’all.
