Sway Makes Big Moves at MTV

Sway Calloway went from one of LA underground’s premier radio DJ’s to MTV’s main hip hop head. The transition didn’t take long for Sway and he became an important figure on the Music Televsion network.

When it came time to renegotiate the contract he had as a news correspondent, MTV had a surprise for him: they have made him an executive.

He will now be able to produce programs on the various Viacom channels and all of this alongside his long-time partner King Tech.

“They stepped up to the plate making MTV my home,” Sway beamed about his new position. “It will be a few years before we see the results of this development; however, I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

This comes shortly after almost leaving the company for good. “The nature of the contract presented to me did not reflect where I wanted to be professionally with the company at this point in my career,” he explained

“Once that plan had not come to fruition, I decided it was best to walk away,” he added. “The plan encompassed my development into a company executive being instrumental in the decisions made about today’s increasingly expanding music industry.”

Aside from his new position, Sway and Tech will continue to do their radio program The Wake-Up Show. The pair also have a record label (Bolo Entertainment) and are hoping to release Chino XL’s new album soon.
