Solange has, like her older sister, Beyoncé, moved in a different direction for her new music.

The “Cranes in the Sky” singer sat down with Harper’s Bazaar on Tuesday (February 20), where she revealed where she was hoping to go with her new sound.

“The tuba,” she said, when asked about what sounds she was obsessed with the most.

“I love it. I’ve started writing music for the tuba, and I am trying to talk myself into releasing it, but I can only imagine the eye rolls from people being like, this bitch hasn’t made an album,” she continued.

This wouldn’t be the first time that the R&B singer would be known for shifting gears in her musical style.

Back in 2022, Solange received props from her older sister when she made her debut as a ballet composer at the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala.

Beyoncé took to her Instagram page to salute her younger sibling for the performance, which took place in September of that year. Solange became the first Black woman to serve as a ballet composer for the New York City Ballet, an achievement her family celebrated.

Bey shared two photos of Solange in her post, one holding two flower bouquets and another with her walking into the venue. In her caption, Beyoncé made it loud and clear she’ll always have her sister’s back.

“My beloved sister, there are no words to express the pride and admiration I have for you,” the “Break My Soul” singer wrote. “You are a visionary and one of one. Congratulations on being the first African American woman to compose for the New York City Ballet. The piece you composed is phenomenal. I love you deep. Might I suggest you don’t f*** with my sis.”

Solange spoke to Vogue about the huge accomplishment, thanking her family and friends for attending the show while highlighting the work that it took to pull off the show that night.

“This evening has been in the works for a long time now,” she said. “The process of composing for the ballet was an inspiring journey for me. Exploring this form of expression and now getting to share it with my friends and loved ones tonight has been incredibly rewarding. It’s certainly a celebratory evening.”
