Snoop Lion Advocates Acceptance Of Gay Rappers, But Doesn’t Think It’ll Happen Soon

As the conversation on homosexuality in Hip Hop continues to evolve, Snoop Lion has thrown his hat into the ring.

“I don’t have a problem with it. It’s the mentality of the Rap generation,” said Snoop on VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz Live With Carrie Keagan.” “The mentality of the Rap generation is masculine. Macho. That’s like having a football player playing in games, and all of a sudden at the end of the season he tells you, ‘Hey, you know I’m gay, guys. I like you, too.’ It’s a different feeling as opposed to saying it up front and early and you dealing with it.”

“It’s like, this Rap game was created off [masculinity], created off a different stigma,” added Snoop. “We were brainwashed not to accept certain things. But as we get older and we learn, we appreciate life. I feel like, in the near future, it could happen. But not right now.”

Though Snoop thinks Hip Hop isn’t quite there yet, he did take a moment to preach tolerance. “People are people no matter what their preference is, and that’s what we have to understand as humans, that we can’t dictate our life off of what someone else loves or doesn’t love. You have to live your life for who you are, and you have to respect other peoples’ decision and give them their space.”

    1. So he switches to Rastafarian then accepts gay rappers? Go see how real Reggae artists feel about that shit.

    2. To be in his position as a established gangsta rapper and now reggae artist and say this is big. Much respect to Snoop.

    3. lmao fuck faggots, i never in my life will respect or listen to those frail attention seeking muthafuckas

    4. I don’t get the anger or hate towards homosexuality. Doesn’t effect my life except for the fact that I know people in my country don’t have full rights as human beings. Hip Hop was formed by the voices of people who felt the effects of racism and inequality. Big up to Snoop for being open to caring for all different types of people.

    5. Gay rappers:

      – 2pac he was bisexual
      – mase
      – puff daddy
      – kanye west
      – lil wayne
      – drake

    6. We can assure that YMCMB is full of straight people who love to fuck women. When I brought Lil Wayne to see Eminem to record No Love, all I saw was a slaughterhouse orgy and eminem fucking Yelawolf in his rectum.

      1. dentaldamboy, everything you say is bullshit. Everyone at YMCMB are gay. Everyone at Shady Records are straight.

    7. SNOOP, YOU BEEN WACK FOR A WHILE NIGGA. YOU HAVEN’T PUT OUT ANYTHING DOPE SINCE THAT BLUE CARPET TREATMENT. YOU CAME UP ALL GANGSTA, NOW YOU WANNA BE A JAMAICAN POSER WITH ALL THIS POSITIVITY BULLSHIT? NOT BUYING IT. FAGGOTS GET NO LOVE OR RESPCT FROM ME. I DONT CARE HOW OLD I GET, MY VIEWS ON HOMOSEXUALITY ARENT CHANGING! ITS WRONG AND UNNATURAL. WE ALREADY GOT SOME HALF FAGS IN THE GAME (KANYE, ASAP, WAYNE) BUT IF A FULLY GAY RAPPER COMES OUT, THEN I GIVE UP ON HIP HOP. FRANK OCEAN IS THE HEAD FAGGOT IN CHARGE, BUT LUCKILY, THAT NIGGA AIN’T NO RAPPER. HIP HOP NEEDS TO GET MASCULINE AGAIN, THESE NIGGAS NEED TO GROW SOME BALLS AND BE MEN. CAN’T STAND THIS HOMO’D UP HIP HOP NOW AND EVERYONE COSIGNING IT.

    9. Fuck every homophobic nigga on here, you might not like the concept of being gay but at the end of the day, you can’t do shit about it but hate and cry about it on the internet. What does two people’s sexual preference got to do with you? Not a damn thing. Stupid bitches.

    10. “Pretty nigga I been thoe’d
gay as fuck but I’m rich doe
      fuck nigga don’t backtalk
on that catwalk in my bitch clothes” – A$AP Flame

    11. Its really funny how mad some of these niggas are gettin about the gays. I dont believe in it, but im not going around burining the fags at the stake (get it?). They do what they do, and I do me.

    12. Its already in hiphop ,hiphop is run by gays i have nothing against homosexuality , If Snoop had said anything against gays period they would cut his money off and black ball him thats a subject you dont touch in the entertainment world if you want to be in it

    13. Snoop I love you but you trippin cuzz. Gay men will never be accepted as real deal MC’s it just wont happen and it should not be tolerated. Gay men are not real men and thatz that

    14. they’re pushing this gay hiphop thing too much, there aren’t no gay people listening to hip hop, it’s too gritty, they stick too happy pop crap

      1. tyson, STFU. dude is right about them pushing this shit.
seems like snoop speaking on it in every interview he gives now. switch lanes and speak about something that really matters; these interviewers are clueless when it comes to their hobbies.

      2. There are a lot of gay people who listen to hip hop. There are a lot of gay rappers also. Cakes da Killa, for example.

      3. Hip hop is the last form of secular music that still has some talk of and respect for God. The people in charge are working their hardest to get all of that removed for good.

      4. It’s confusing to me how a genre of music which grew beyond so much adversity and fear from those who couldn’t a different way of life, turn around and do the same thing to a group of people who are just like you and me and don’t get to choose every little thing about themselves. Nobody is gay to spite you, and if your so worried about gay dudes being gay, your probably gay for being so wrapped up in hating something that you find threatening because you can’t relate to it. Also gay dudes often times hook me up with the most attractive girls I’ve ever dated/hooked up with. You know why? Because I’m not a scared little boy who can’t handle someone being different than me. Knowing a gay dude means that there is literally more of what I want, women, for me. But that worries you? Sounds gay as hell to me, I don’t know. I think your dealing with self hate.

    15. 2Pac – He was a ballerina
Biggie – He said he sucked on her daddy’s dick
Mister Cee – He made another nigga suck his dick
DJ Quik – Everytime he disses another MC he says some gay shit
DMX – He’s always in jail

    16. 2PAC AND BIGGIE WERE GOING TO SIGN TO CASH MONEY RECORDS BEFORE SUGE AND DIDDY HAD THEM SHOT TO DEATH!!

    17. Love my job, since I’ve been bringing in $87h I sit at home, music playing while I work in front of my new iMac that I got now that I’m making it online. All I do are easy tasks from this one cool site Rich4.Com_

    18. Invincible’s one of my favourite rappers, and she’s a carpet muncher. Admittedly it would be harder to accept a dude who had non-traditional sexual preferences in hip-hop. When I first saw Danny Brown’s picture, I refused to listen to him, ’cause he was dressed like a faggot. After hearing his music though, I was pleased to find out he’s normal, and his gay attire is just a part of his idiosyncratic stage act, it doesn’t reflect on him as a person or his music. Gays have to remember they can listen to our music, but it isn’t intended for them, so if they take offence to the lyrics, it’s an indication they should be listening to gay friendly artists like Coldplay, Katy Perry or the Killers. I would never complain that comedians like Sarah Silverman shouldn’t tell Black jokes, that’s part of her act and repertoire and Black people who are not cool with that should just avoid her material. Gays would earn more respect from normal people if they shared the same philosophy, and stop whinging about every little petty incident.

    19. Why so many homophobic scared little boys posting hate on this hip hop website? You sound gay as hell for worrying about the next man. Be Cool MothaFuckaz, like Uncle Snoop.
