Snoop Dogg has been in the game for quite some time, and that’s why him imparting wisdom on Hit-Boy‘s father Big Hit as he prepares to drop his debut album.

On Monday (December 4), Hit-Boy shared on social media a clip of Snoop on a phone call with Big Hit. In it, the Doggfather lays down some “rules and regulations” for the producer’s father, who is attempting a rap career after returning home this past spring from serving nine years in state prison for a hit-and-run.

Hit-Boy reiterated this theme in his caption, writing: “This is the FIRST TIME ever in music you’ve seen a role reversal of this proportion. I’m helping my dad do something constructive with his time and giving him an outlet to express himself in a creative manner through music.”

The producer went on to thank Snoop for “the words of encouragement,” and said that Big Hit’s upcoming project would be titled The Truth Is In My Eyes. Thus far, Hit-Boy said, the album process has been done entirely independently.

“We decided not to take any of the record deals we been offered since he got out 7 months ago for multiple reasons and the main reason is i’ve seen and been through too much to let my pops get caught up in these same systems i have no belief in,” he clarified. “[W]hen you show love and support to this movement just know it’s all off the muscle. funded by us for yall.”
