Skilla Baby is convinced that the police department in his hometown of Detroit has it in for him, and he’s ready to pursue legal action to end the harassment.

The 25-year-old brought his grievances to Instagram on Sunday (July 7) following his latest hometown appearance. In a lengthy video post, Skilla detailed repeated encounters with city officials, including one specific member of Detroit PD, whom he referred to as Lieutenant Rue.

“I am not no activist or nothing, so I don’t like doing this type of shit,” he starts. “But every time I perform at home fire marshals or Detroit police always come shut me down. I already like, I don’t even know what I be doing but they always come shut me down.

“And I got one officer that just always pick on me. His name is Lieutenant Rue. I think he is the real name, Lieutenant Dan Rue or something. Every event I’m at, he always try to get kicked out.”

The rapper, born Trevon Gardner, recounted a number of incidents in which Rue derailed his plans, including the time where he allegedly referred to Skilla as a “gang member” and a “murderer” in order to prevent him from attending events at Ford Field.

“I just pour into my city,” said an exasperated Skilla Baby. “I got people records expunged. I give houses away and they don’t respect me for it. I’m only 25. It is kind of crazy. My boy, Lieutenant Rue you crazy. I just want to bring awareness to Lieutenant Rue. Lieutenant Rue. You a crazy man. And I ain’t going to lie.”

He added: “There’s nothing I can do to beat you. You a police, you feel me? There’s nothing I can do. I can’t tell on you. I’m not going to tell on you. I’m just like, the next thing I’m going to do is sue the city. So I’m going to sue the DPD for keep putting him at my events, bro. I ain’t going to lie. I’m going to sue the city.”

He said: “Numbers wise, Eminem is the best Detroit rapper but the gag is nobody would say that in Detroit.”

The “Bae” rapper went on to add: “Everybody had a turn being Detroit’s favorite rapper. Sada Baby had a turn, Tee Grizzley had a turn, Babyface Ray had a turn, Veeze is one of Detroit’s best rappers, Baby Smoove. Everybody had their turn being the best in the city. What we lack is consistency. Nobody has consistently been Detroit’s favorite rapper.”
