Sisqó and Beyoncé were surrounded by dating rumors in the early 2000s because of a red carpet moment, with the allegations reignited years later after a post from Solange – but he’s now said they were never more than just friends.
The Dru Hill singer sat down with Gloria Velez for an episode of her new Vlad TV podcast that was released on Sunday (July 30). Bringing up the time he and Bey posed for pictures together on the red carpet of the 2001 MTV Movie Awards, the former video vixen pressed for more information about the nature of their relationship.

“No! We were friends,” he insisted. “Me and Beyoncé never dated but we were just friends when we were younger because we were on a lot of the same tours because we came out around the same time. I believe they came out in ’97 and [Dru Hill] came out in ’96. So, we were friends. I knew her dad and her mom and sister and stuff.”
He then addressed Solange’s post from 2014, which arrived days after the infamous elevator moment with herself, her sister and JAY-Z. Sharing a photo of Dru Hill and Destiny’s Child in the studio where Bey is gazing at Sisqó, Solange captioned the pic: “This will be deleted tomorrow, and it’s not because I don’t love sisqo’s awesome guitar.”

“All I know is when Elevator Gate happened, Solange posted a picture of us,” the “Thong Song” singer said with a shrug. “I’ll just leave it at that. Then she promptly erased it. It was erased the next day.”

Beyoncé seems to be on a lot of folks’ minds these days, as the conversation arrives around the same time that Erykah Badu threw shade at the Houston native for allegedly copying her style.
On Sunday (July 30), the “On & On” singer posted a picture on her Instagram Stories of Beyoncé during her latest Renaissance Tour stop in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Bey and her eldest daughter Blue Ivy wore matching bedazzled “IV” jerseys and knee-high boots, with JAY-Z’s superstar wife also sporting a metallic, wide-brimmed hat.
Erykah appeared skeptical about how Beyoncé decided on her choice of headwear, as shimmering, wide-brimmed hats have been her signature look for years.

“Hmmm,” she wrote underneath the picture of Bey’s outfit. She then posted a picture of herself performing in a hat similar to the former Destiny’s Child singer’s, adding: “I guess I’m everyone’s stylist. favorite chrome mirror hat.”
Beyoncé has not responded to either artist as of this writing.
