Shakira and Cardi B are gearing up to drop their first-ever collab, “Puntería,” and the Colombian singer has now revealed that she “always” planned on having Big Bardi on the song.
Ahead of the track’s scheduled release on Friday (March 22), the pair released a video interviewing each other on the set of its music video.

“I wanted to do something with Cardi,” Shakira said. “We were always discussing internally if it was a good idea to put someone on this song. I always pictured Cardi on this song. I reached out, and here we are. It’s been so fun to work with you. It’s so easy, honestly.”
She continued: “She’s like, ‘I’ll do everything.’ I’m like, ‘Are you ready to work long hours? Because I work long hours.’ She’s like, ‘I’ll be there from 6 to 6 a.m.’”
Cardi also spoke about meeting the singer and how nervous she was.

“When I first met Shakira, it was in Paris at the Fendi show, and I was very, very nervous,” she admitted. “I was nervous because I wanted to get next to her, but I was like, ‘I’m not gonna get next to her until they call me.’ I manifested it, but I didn’t know when it was coming.
“I knew it. I knew this day would come. It came. God is good, Jesus. I don’t care if she wants me to meow — I’m doing it. I cannot wait. Seriously, that is my dream.”
On a new episode of Million Dollaz Worth of Game that dropped last weekend, Cardi B revealed that she crossed paths with Shakira by chance.
“I always wanted to do a record with Shakira and it’s like, wow, it landed on my lap. It really landed on my lap, so I got a record coming out with her next week,” she said. “It’s like, ‘Bitch, I’ll do whatever the fuck you want me to do, bitch. I’ll fly to Colombia.’ Like, I’ll go over there right now.”
“I saw her in Paris and I talked to her,” she continued. “I don’t like being in bitch’s face about it. I’m like, ‘I have to, my sister she did a talent show when she was in first grade and she won doing your song! I just love you so much, like you’re a part of my life.’”

“And then her team reached out to me. I’m like, ‘Owww, Shakira, Shakira.’ I was gagging.”
“Puntería” will be included on Shakira’s forthcoming album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.
