ScHoolboy Q has shared details about playing his new album Blue Lipsfor JAY-Z thanks to the power of Hip Hop Twitter.

The Top Dawg Entertainment rapper recently stopped by PodcastP for an interview that will go live on Friday (March 29), during which he shared details about playing his latest album for the mogul.

“He was actually listening and yeah, that was all I needed to know,” he told host Paul George.

“I played shit for Snoop [Dogg] before, Nas, all these motherfuckers, never Jay. [Dr.] Dre, played shit for Dre. So Jay was just like, a guy I wanted to play music for. [I] played shit for Ye [Kanye West].

“So I got to do it and he [JAY-Z] was fucking with it, you know what I’m saying? And giving me the breakdown and the details of it.”

Elsewhere in the conversation presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, the “Man of the Year” rapper talked about getting in touch with JAY-Z via X (formerly Twitter).

“I was just throwing it out there,” he explained. “But it was bait. I’m like, I think he’ll fuck around and tap in. You know what I’m saying?… and then Punch sent it to JAY-Z, but it was like this other Twitter account …where he retweeted it and yeah, it was like sent [to Punch] … Shout out to him, you know what I mean?”

JAY-Z, he was like, ‘let’s meet up Thursday.’ And I’m like, ‘damn, this serious?’ All right. And motherfucker showed up. I’m like, this motherfucker is JAY-Z. Yeah, I done met him before, but every time it was just like, bro, this is JAY-Z.”

Last month, prior to the release of Blue Lips, the 37-year-old tweeted: “I wisH I could play tHis album for jay z [fingers-crossed emoji].”

Soon after, the Southern California native revealed that he did in fact link up with Jigga.
