Scarface To Bow Classic Discography At Farewell Houston Concert: ‘I’m Done With The Rap’

Scarface is ready to close the chapter on his storied rap career with one final show in his hometown of Houston. During an episode of the Geto Boys Reloaded podcast with fellow Geto Boy Willie D, Scarface talked about how excited he was for the opportunity to end his career on a high note.

“The cool part about it is, I get to say farewell twice,” he said. “I get to go out there and say farewell by myself, and then I get to say it with you.”

With 11 solo albums in his discography, including 1994’s The Diary and 1997’s The Untouchable, the Rap-A-Lot Records OG has plenty of material perform. Coupled with the Geto Boys’ seven studios albums, he should have no problem cultivating an enticing set list.

Scarface also admitted he doesn’t think he could duplicate his old material now.

“I was saying some good shit,” Scarface said. “I probably could never write like that again. But it’s a beautiful thing when you’re able to express yourself with words and people fall in love with your ability to deliver a story.”

As for the future, Scarface revealed he wants to explore different genres and confidently stated he was “done with the rap.”

“If I could, I would love to go into a different lane of music,” he explained. “Maybe blues or rock. Maybe alternative. I want to do something different now.”

Scarface, who recently underwent a successful kidney transplant following a bout with COVID-19, will perform on Friday (November 12) at The House of Blues.

    1. face has dozens of classics. salute og goin out ontp his last deeply rooted miles ahead of these dr suess mumblers but long as he breathin i think face gonna drop one here n there def ghostwrite for some folks

    2. All of the OGs should do this at some point. Rapping about the shit they rapped about in their 20s just doesn’t sound right coming from guys in their 40s and 50s. Probably the GOAT southern rapper.

      1. That’s why they should rap about their life now. The mistake is trying to rap about your life back then, stay current. It’s plenty of things for 40 and 50 year olds to rap about. Life never stops giving you material. Sometimes the listener needs to mature their ear and not expect them to rap about young men stuff.

        1. They do, or maybe you don’t listen. It still doesn’t sound the same for a lot of them because rap is just a young man’s game. Those of us who have grown up with the music and who aren’t still young understand how much our energy has changed over time from when we were in our 20s and 30s running around just like them.

          1. you are talking out your ass. all kinds of rap dudes making music right now who are in their 40s and 50s and sht sounds incredible. and you know that too with your “rap is a young mans game” troll ass. No fckn body stopping young dudes from getting on the microphone no one is preventing them from kicking a rap on their iphone

    3. You’re done when j prince tells you you are done music gansta…all these dudes fooled me back in the days….you can’t even nft because your super ganster self don’t own nada…foh with that theatre actors

      1. Fuck you talking about. J. Prince was at the hospital when he had his surgery recently. They’re good and always have been .

    4. I CONSIDERED SCARFACE RETIRED SINCE EMERITUS. I KNOW HE DROPPED DEEPLY ROOTED AFTER THAT BUT HE HASNT EXACTLY BEEN ACTIVE EVEN DURING THAT RUN. HE WILL DROP SOMETHING WHEN HE INSPIRED.

    5. Face has been doing it so long. His health family comes first. He is a ICON in rap game for decades. If NYC luv him who could be against him.Wen he made smile with Pac he blew roof of ? he shore had me pressing rewind. We are not gonna forget smash hit Minds playing tricks on me.And much respect too D RIP Bushwick God Rasheem Ebbets field finest BK in house.

    6. Everyone says Scarface is a very talented musician and that’s a big reason why Geto Boys were so huge even though they had an image of complete thugs with no common sense. So I would love to hear him do a blues or alternative album, just something he would need to be serious about for six months before his recorded anything

    7. Salut and much love to Face. Praying for his health and wishing him longevity in his life outside of hip-hop. We ought to give him his roses whilst he still living.

    8. BIG UPS TO FACE! Thanks fa bein in my ear throughout the years. Music is truly a process and I HOPE to here Brad Jordan REMAIN RELEVANT IN THE PROCESS. Long live life and wealth of health of G!
