Sauce Walka is lucky to be alive after being targeted in a shooting in Memphis that killed one person.

According to FOX 13 Memphis, the Houston rapper was shot in broad daylight on Saturday (March 22), suffering a gunshot wound to the leg.

A friend who was with Walka at the time was also shot and died of his injuries.

Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the second person, though speculation on social media suggests it was Walka’s artist and fellow rapper, Sayso P.

The shooting occured outside a hotel near the FedEx Forum when a car pulled up next to the two men. Multiple people then got out of the vehicle and fired several shots before fleeing.

Police confirmed at a press conference that the shooting appeared to be “targeted.”

After he survived the shooting and received hospital treatment for his injuries, a video surfaced on social media showing Sauce Walka in good spirits.

While wearing a bloodied bandage on his left thigh, the 34-year-old could be seen posing for a picture with a fan and saying: “I’ma stand up, I ain’t no bitch. My daddy on the phone; that n-gga didn’t raise no ho!

“Aye daddy, how many times your house got shot up? […] 45 shots, n-gga, when I was 15 years old! This shit ain’t nothing new!”

He also seemingly confirmed that it was Sayso P who was killed in the shooting, saying: “RIP Sayso P, man.”

Sauce Walka, who has collaborated with the likes of Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky and Bun B, previously had a brush with death in 2023 when he crashed his car following a 130 mph police chase.

The Texas native somehow walked away from the accident unscathed but was subsequently charged with evading arrest.

He later expressed remorse over the incident, writing on social media: “Kids never do this stupid shit! Learn from my experiences ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS! Listen to yo parents advice!
