After Thursday’s (August 24) surprisingly left-field world premiere of the brand new Wu-Tang Clan single “People Say” featuring Redman, the collective has officially announced a forthcoming LP, Wu-Tang: The Saga Continues.
The project is the eighth studio offering from the iconic Statin Island group — or seventh minus Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, the Wu album “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli bought for $2 million .
Although Ghostface Killah told HipHopDX last year, “RZA put the ball in my hand,” when asked about a Wu reunion, whether he was instrumental in getting the latest project underway is unclear.
According to the official announcement, RZA serves as executive producer, while production is being handled by Mathematics, the group’s longtime DJ and producer.
“For years, Math has had the idea of putting together a body of music using modern and legendary equipment such as ASR10 with vocal performances by Wu-Tang Clan members and other prominent MCs,” RZA said in the press release. “With The Saga Continues he’s created a masterpiece.”
The group was thought to be in disarray leading up to the release of A Better Tomorrow, the follow-up to 8-Diagrams (the first album released post-Ol’ Dirty Bastard). Most notably, Raekwon and RZA had public creative disagreements, and there was also some friction around the controversial sale of the Once Upon A Time In Shaolin album to Shkreli.
Wu-Tang is a brotherhood, though. The members might move in different directions at times, they’re all still connected to the hive.
“It’s never an issue with my brothers,” Raekwon told Exclaim magazine earlier this year. “They’re doing their thing; we already in discussions talking about moving forward together,” hinting something was already in the works.
The album, which is the inaugural (musical) release under RZA’s 36 Chambers LLC lifestyle brand, is set to drop on October 17. It features RZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killa, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, Redman, the late ODB and Sean Price.
36 Chambers ALC fashion arm, 36 Chambers menswear, is also set to launch a new vegan accessories line called The Pineapple Collection, which is expected to arrive in the near future.
He must have confused the new Wu Tang Clan album with Drake’s next album, which is certain to be a masterpiece.

I was disappointed with A Better Tomorrow. Only song I remember liking the most was “Mistaken Identity”. Hope they rebound with this one.
A masterpiece?? What was the last thing RZA did that was even above average ? Besides that chipotle commercial…. bobby digital 1? Grave diggaz ? He sounds like a used car salesman. Lemon laws do not apply to iTunes unfortunately. Here’s an idea , just go overseas and make money. The hip hop culture in the USA is RIP.

If the album sounds likes the first single maybe rza does have masterpiece. Let’s remember mathematics produced the album. Rza is just the executive producer. Mathematics so far has brought the heat.

You know, now since you mentioned that, could this actually be another compilation like Chamber Music and Legendary Weapons, only with Mathematics on production instead of Noah Rubin, Fizzy Womack and the Revelations?
Wu-Tang is DONE. They were are driving force in the 90’s but now sound lame. Nobody want to listen to 47 years old rappers about being a killer and a huslrer. Grow up. You aint 20 anymore.. I would prefer 4th Disciple to produce the whole thing as I always thoughts he was the best and most consistent producer from Wu Elements. Lets see what Mathematics is gonna bring though, that new joint was pretty cool.

I love the Wu but c’mon shit is played out. I mean they cant find another sample to make a beat with? That single they put out has the same sample from another Wu song from like 5 years ago with just a different drum track. I think they just keep recycling the same loops they are used before cause they were able to clear them.

No true wu album features anyone but the original 9 minus ODB. They have enough MCs on the roster. Redman is awesome,never listened to Sean price but they need to be kept out for a true wu album. RZA production,old school equipment only. Fuck everyone else.
“The W” had appearances from Redman, Nas, Isaac Hayes and Snoop. Was that not a true Wu album?

Nas and Redman are semi-official members of the Wu so it’s all good when they are on a Wu album. The rest are actually guest appearances. Excited for this album immensely. Let’s hope it’s better than that last one. I hated it. So bad.
