Russ was moved to tears during a recent show when he spotted a message that a group of his fans got together to convey.
Taking to his X account with photos and video of the moment on Wednesday (June 26), the multi-hyphenate explained why a sign that read “we will stay by your side” meant so much to him.

“A pretty special moment happened on stage last night in Toronto,” he wrote. “I’ve never experienced something like this before. I was performing ‘Workin On Me’ and all of a sudden I noticed a bunch of fans holding up a piece of a paper. The camera doesn’t show it but it was all throughout the left, middle, and right side of the crowd. I looked closer and typed out on the paper was ‘we will stay by your side.'”
He continued: “I’ve spent so much time and energy trying to build a fanbase and also a lot of time worrying that if I make any mistake, my fans will leave. PTSD I guess lol so to see such a collective effort to just give me love and reassurance was like the nicest shit I can remember anyone doing for me tbh. It really left me speechless.

“I was pretty overwhelmed with emotions and started to get a lil teary eyed so I had to take a knee and get it together. But wow. Just know that that’s gonna be something I never forget and I appreciate you guys more than an instagram caption could convey. Thank you Toronto.”

It’s been a great month for Russ, who just weeks earlier became a New York Times best-selling author thanks to his latest literary effort, It Was You All Along.
“OFFICIALLY A NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLING AUTHOR!!!!!” he wrote with a screenshot showing that the self-help book debuted at No. 7 on the prestigious list. “Thank you to the team at Harper Collins and thank you to my fans!!!! Yall are the best [prayer emojis].”
The book, which marks Russ’ second literary release, is described as something “for everyone who’s looking for answers in all the wrong places. It’s a book about self-empowerment, self-awareness, and ultimately self-love.”
On the music side, Russ showed off his six-figure weekly earnings late last year from being an independent artist and owning his catalog.

“For inspirational purposes,” he wrote. “This is the money I made this week off just the masters of my independent catalogue. It fluctuates weekly obviously but this is just to give insight.
“You do not need to be on the radio or signed or have the biggest album in the word to fucking cake. You have to have a lot of good music and own it lol.”
