On November 8, Roy Jones [click to read] will take on Joe Calzaghe for the Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight Championship. Announced in July, the HBO Pay-Per-View fight will take place at Madison Square Garden.
In preparation for the fight, Jones recorded song and video “Battle of the Super Powers,” as an anticipation anthem and an early prediction of the highly-publicized showdown.
“The song just came to me,” Jones told HipHopDX on Wednesday. “Every big
fight I have is centered around a theme, something pops into my head and it
just develops from there. This song came very easy…especially
after meeting Joe in England and making this fight the way we did, no promoters
or middlemen. Just me and him. The lyrics aren’t just words,
they have meaning. It’s a vision of how I see the fight going.
It’s pure Roy Jones, but it’s also a tribute to Joe Calzaghe‘s tremendous
record.”
