Roddy Ricch took no time in expressing his love for the Nigerian metropolis of Lagos soon after landing there.
The Compton native was booked to perform at this year’s Flytime Fest 2023 in the West African country alongside fellow stars like Lil Durk and Davido.

On Thursday (December 21), just a day after arriving in the foreign country and hours before his set on the first night of the five-day event, he took to Twitter and wrote: “i might buy a house in Lagos [Nigerian flag emoji] it’s unconditional love.”

It makes sense that Roddy Ricch is so moved by the positive reception he has received overseas because he’s been dealing with a great deal of hate on his own turf lately.
Last year, things got so bad that he deleted his social media profiles amid a flood of criticism from the web after a song of his leaked online. Since then, however, his confidence seems to have made a comeback.

Two months back, he let it be known that he’s had enough of the critics when he fired back at a social media user who told him it was time to retire.
In early October, the Compton rapper took to Twitter to share a snippet of some new music, but it wasn’t as well received by fans as he hoped it would be.
“Roddy, it’s time to put the mic down,” one detractor wrote, to which Roddy replied: “Shuddup bitch!”
The follower then returned fire with a reason for the critique, writing: “Your linsanity run during quarantine will be remembered forever. you can live off the box for the rest of ur life. just please stop going into the studio I beg you.”

However, some fans came to Roddy Ricch’s defense and respected that he was protecting his name.
“That’s what I’m talking about,” another fan replied. “Speak up they gon’ respect a n-gga name today.”
