Rihanna Seemingly Shades Drake With Icky Comment About ‘Corny’ Love Songs

Rihanna has appeared to throw some shade at Drake after admitting that being made the subject of love songs gives her the ick.

In a promo for her Savage X Fenty lingerie brand ahead of Valentine’s Day, RiRi was asked to choose between love songs and love letters.

“Ugh, please never make me a love song,” she emphatically replied. “That is corny, trust me. I’ve seen it.”

Many viewers thought her comment was about Drake, who is known to have penned more than one song about his rumored one-time girlfriend.

The 6 God previously admitted that he wrote “Fireworks” after the Barbadian singer “hurt” him, while it is also believed that “Take Care” and “Days in the East” are about Rihanna.

Fans online found it hilarious that she appeared to be aiming a dig at Drizzy, with one commenting: “DAMN. Everyone roasting Drake this year huh.”

Another joked: “Drake gonna make a diss track and if ain’t hit he just gonna sue for his feelings getting hurt.”

Someone else commented: “I know drake is SEETHING rn [crying face emojis].”

Despite Rihanna not being a fan of love songs about her, current boyfriend A$AP Rocky has dedicated at least one track to their relationship.

On his 2022 track “D.M.B.,” short for “Dat’s My Bitch,” Rocky recounted the beginning of their whirlwind romance and gushed over her “bank accounts with the big amounts,” “little slim thick” figure and “tough love” attitude.

He also appeared to reference her ex Chris Brown‘s infamous assault on her, rapping: “I don’t beat my bitch, I need my bitch.”

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s relationship recently came up during a court hearing ahead of the rapper’s felony assault trial, in which he’s accused of shooting former friend A$AP Relli in 2021.

Judge Mark S. Arnold attempted to clarify the couple’s marital status by asking Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, how to refer to RiRi, who he planned to ask potential jurors about.

Tacopina replied: “She’s his common-law wife, your Honor. Or just ‘wife,’” which led to an objection from prosecutors.

A lawyer for the state countered: “If they’re not legally married, we prefer that she not be referred to as his wife and that she is just referred to as his significant other or mother of his children.”

Judge Arnold then asked: “Are they legally married anywhere?” to which Rocky’s attorney admited: “I don’t know, but she’s certainly his common-law wife.”

The judge ultimately ruled that Rihanna would only be referred to as Rocky’s wife if they are actually legally married, which doesn’t appear to be the case.

    1. Hood-like mentality. Such a piece of shit world we live in if man makes a love song for you it turns you off. Go flash you ass for the camera Rihanna. Hard dick and bubble gum raps are clearly what does it for you. Smh.

      2. that’s because he was doing more than what she wanted. it’s a music award show. compliment her on her music and keep it moving. she waiting to get the trophy and do her one two thing. he standing there making it about more than music despite the signs she gave dude. you sound like one of those weirdos that gets mad at a woman if she doesn’t reciprocate what she clearly doesn’t want from you despite your insistence. log off my guy

      1. Being born gay is out of people’s control. You should be more understanding. Not all of us want to be homo, but it’s in our DNA. It’s 2025, being gay is in style right now anyway

    2. well generally when you talk music many songs can mean different things to different people so a love song any love song wouldn’t necessarily mean it would be between just that one person and another but if thats what rihanna thinks then fine but it hits different
