Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have just celebrated a major milestone in their son, RZA‘s, life, enjoying his first birthday with the revelation of some never-before-seen baby pics.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday (May 13), the proud papa shared a collection of photos with his firstborn boy, while also confirming that he and Riri did, indeed, name the baby after the Wu-Tang Clan god.

“WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN.” HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN. RZA,” he wrote in the caption.

And in the final slide, A$AP Rocky shared a clip from the late ODB‘s history-making appearance at the 1998 Grammys on February 25, 1998, when he crashed Shawn Colvin’s win by hopping onstage and shouting “Wu-Tang is for the children!”

A$AP Rocky’s caption marks the first time that the pair have publicly confirmed their firstborn son’s name.

Rumors of the baby’s name originally surfaced on Wednesday (May 10), when The Daily Mail reportedly got its hands on the baby’s birth certificate, revealing his name to be RZA Athelston Mayers. It also said he was born May 13 at 10:58 a.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Being named after legendary Hip Hop artists run in the family, as Rocky previously revealed he was named after the rapper Rakim.

Prior to the revelation, Rih and Rocky kept the baby’s name hidden for nearly a year.

Rih and Rocky’s family will soon grow to welcome one more. While a due date hasn’t been revealed, the Bajan superstar was sporting a substantial bump when she performed at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in February – which would mean she was already a few months along.

In a recent interview with British Vogue for her cover story, Rihanna opened up about her experiences with early motherhood.

“Oh my God, it’s legendary,” she said of her first nine months as a mother. “It’s everything. You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever.

She continued: “You literally try to remember it – and there are photos of my life before – but the feeling, the desires, the things that you enjoy, everything, you just don’t identify with it because you don’t even allow yourself mentally to get that far because… because it doesn’t matter.”
