It was just days ago when it was revealed that legendary music man Rick Rubin was named executive producer of Kanye West’s much-anticipated Yeezus album and up until now the Def Jam founder’s specific contributions to the project have remained rather vague.
In a recent conversation with the Wall Street Journal, Rubin broke down his duties as executive producer of West’s sixth studio album, which included smoothing out the raw material on the project.
“Kanye came over to play me what I assumed was going to be the finished album at three weeks before the last possible delivery date. We ended up listening to three hours of partially finished pieces. The raw material was very strong but hadn’t yet come into focus,” Rubin explained. “Many of the vocals hadn’t been recorded yet, and many of those still didn’t have lyrics. From what he played me, it sounded like several months more work had to be done. I joined the project because after discussing what he had played for me, he asked if I would be open to taking all of the raw material on and help him finish it.”
Rubin later commented on West’s contributions to Hip Hop, referring to the rapper as “a true artist” and one who’s gone on to make the genre both “grander” and “more personal.”
“He is a true artist who happens to make music under the wide umbrella of hip hop,” said the producer. “He is in no way beholden to hip hop’s typical messaging musical clichés. Hip hop is a grander, more personal form because of his contributions, and hopefully his work will inspire others to push the boundaries of what’s possible in hip hop…He is pure in his art and in a form where so many choices artists make are often the result of business consideration. Kanye chooses to let his art lead.”
Kanye West’s Yeezus album will be released on June 18 and will feature appearances from Chief Keef, Bon Iver, and more.

who dat in da pic?
ricky lookin like a caveman bro.
nigga look like garfield n shit.
You a fool for this one Rick!
fredRICK Rubin is arguably the best producer of the past 30 years in ALL types of music. Google his production credits and see all the shit he help create.
For as great of a hip hop producer he is, he’s probably a better rock producer. Legend.
And it’s just leaked… Atrilli
You disappointment me Rick working with a deucebag like Kanye.
kanye may be a deuche but that doesnt stop the fact that his music is great. Dont let your personal feelings stop you from appreciating good music. If Rick Rubin recognizes it as great then theres no reason to argue. Literally none. Hes responsible for so much in hip hop
douchebag you idiots
Doesn’t matter if your opinion on yeezus, Rick Rubin is essentially god of hip hop. Hip hop and all of modern music owes him for what he’s created. It’s sad that some people consider themselves hip hop fans and don’t know who founded Def Jam like god made earth and shit. Rick Rubin’s endorsement of Kanye is worth more than a million critics’ and a billion haters’ opinions of kanye.
Is he your father?
I’ll give that to kool herc and the early rappers before LL cool J
Album in internet!
hey santa go back to hibernation christmas done my nigga
Man, Rick Rubin needs to produce the a geto boys album with scarface. Scareface said he won’t make another geto boys album without Rick. His production on the first one was classic.

SOME LEGENDARY TALK HERE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLMm5mHVp_M
seems like album was rushed
Know your hip hop history. He helped build this!
Frederick Jay “Rick” Rubin (born March 10, 1963) is an American record producer and the co-president of Columbia Records. Along with Russell Simmons, Rubin is the founder of Def Jam Records and also established American Recordings. With the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy and RunD.M.C., Rubin helped popularize hip hop music. In 2007, Rubin was listed among Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
If you don’t know your history…..jump now!
Rick Rubin (no matter how he looks) helped to make some of the most noteworthy albums (Hip Hop and Non- Hip Hop) with a lot of artists. He’s a beast hands down.
Not hatin on Ye, but he’s boring now. He really has nothing to say so he crafts up this combative image whose sole purpose is to make people uncomfortable. Rap is something you shouldn’t do if you don’t have anything to say. His music has no focus anymore because he’s out of concepts. So he does all this other artsy fartsy shit to compensate for that fact. If Kanye wanted to really take a chance and do something cutting edge, he’d do a production focused album with no rap. Tell a story with just music.
Thank you! Co-sign that statement fully.
Fuck this bum
Funny, God cosign this album.
People on here who the hell Rick Rubin is?? He is a fucking legend, best producer of all time, richer than Dr Dre. Show respect. We can’t deny kanye is one of the dopest producers and now he is combing with Rubin.
YEEZUS LEAKED, YEEZUS LEAKED, YEEZUS LEAKED,
Kanyes Yeezus leaked out today … you can get it at www. hiphopgood .com … YEEZUS = 10/10 EVERYONE GET IT HipHopGood has it and they have that born sinner deluxe edition, they got it all
so basically he said it sucked. Im pretty sure its trash. he hasnt dropped anything dope since that stupid flashing lights cd minus a few singles here and there. oh and i also fucked his canadian bitch leyla way before him back when she still had small ass titties
her pussy smelled like hot dog water
Looks like kanye knows he’s on his last run and is trying to cash in one last time, that’s the reason for the minimal cd cover art and over exaggerated trash talk and bragging.
captain caveman
ja rule would never work with a bummy ass nigga like this.

#FUCKFAME #RULETALK
I like Yeezus, i got my copy from www. hiphopgood. com. They have all the shit on it, i got that born sinner and mac miller from HipHopGood Too. I think Ye got the best Cd out of the June 18th lineup…
yeah thats were i got mine too. fuck buying his album
uhuhuuhuhuhuhuhuh
uhuhhuh
I didn’t really start getting into Kanye until the dark twisted fantasy album. I like some of his older songs like flashing lights and the through the wire sample of Chaka Kahn was dope but I hated his use of autotune and the pitch manipulated effects that make voices sound like chipmunks. I love this album though for its darkness in content and anger and the abstractness of beats. He is like the splatter paint artist of hip-hop in his production style.
this is easily the most garbage major released “hip hop” album i have ever heard. rick rubin should be ashamed of himself to have taken part in this joke. it really does sound like kanye was just spent the last couple of years scratching his ass and brought ruben in to attempt to salvage this by the release date. half of this sounds like songs that didn’t make 808 and heartbeats lol. dude is still using corny autotune like its still in style lol. worst rap album EVER.
GOT LIGHT?
fuck this old white washed up honkey he shoulda asked master p
rick ruban wigger santa
NO NO HE IS LIKE Buddha
Ja Rule featured on track “halleluja”
Rushed album. basically Ye is releasing an unfinished version full of raw materials. That’s why there’s no cover for it.
Simple niggas enjoy simple music. Complex people enjoy complex music simple as that.
Rick Rubin is the Buddha of Hip hop
Says the guy who left Def Jam to die…GTFOH!!!!
