In preparation for the December 17 release of his sixth studio album, Mastermind, Miami rapper Rick Ross has revealed that he’ll soon release a single featuring fellow lyricist, Jay Z. Ross, who plans on dropping the single in November, shared the news during an appearance on HOT 97 this week.
“I got the concert coming. The album, December 17. I’m releasing a new record myself. Jay Z, top of next month. We following up with the one that the streets really appreciate right now. So, we doing it big,” said the Maybach Music Group founder.
Ross’ upcoming single doesn’t serve as the first time the two rap Titans have collaborated on a record together. On Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, Ross appears on the Timbaland and Boi-1da-produced “FuckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt.” Both rappers also appear together on the God Forgives, I Don’t record, “3 Kings,” a song that also features Dr. Dre.
The MMG helmsman didn’t reveal the name of his upcoming single with Jay Z, but did offer some insight into the title of his new album.
“It’s all about coming from wherever you come from and take it wherever you want to go to,” said Ross. “And the minute you do that that’s when you can consider yourself a mastermind.”
Ross’ interview with HOT 97 comes just weeks after the Floridian emcee released an album trailer for Mastermind. In the album trailer, which lasts a little over two minutes, various video clips of the rapper along with video snippets from a number of newsworthy events from the past can be seen.
Mastermind is currently scheduled for release on December 17. Ross’ currently untitled record with Jay Z will serve as the album’s second single. The first Mastermind single, “No Games,” was released last month.

UPDATE #2: Rick Ross recently discussed his “The Devil Is A Lie” single, an upcoming selection slated to be included on Rozay’s Mastermind album.
“I’m still finalizing certain things, but top of next month, I want to release a record that me and Jay have,” Ross told Fuse News.
Ross also shed light on what the record may sound like, comparing it to their collaboration on Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail.
“After you make a record as big as ‘FuckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt,’ it has to be on that level,” Ross said. “I feel that’s what this record is. It’s a dope record.”
Ross’ Mastermind is set to be released December 17.

I can think of numerous stolen beats that have come out in the last few years that would have had samples cleared and the rightful producer almost always ended up with proper credit and compensation after all was said and done!

The original producer sent K.E the beat to get it placed on a album/mixtape but instead of telling the producer Rick Ross chose his beat he took the credit for himself like he actually made the beat instead of giving the original producer his credits.

I mean, its resolved from a business perspective, but I havent spoken to him. He was really trying to sign me to his production company [Beat Mechanics], but when that went sour the deal with Keith. Thats when he got upset and pretty much blacklisted me and just took the track. He had the track in the works. He had the whole situation in the works. Thats how that happened. I dont really want to put it all out just because the situation got resolved. Even though it is what happened, at the end of the day, it is something that hell probably do to me, but I am not even that type of person. You know what I am saying? To where I am completely going to take his ability to make money away and make a living.

Did you play your version to K.E. and you guys collaborated? How did he end up stealing your beat?
No, we never collaborated. He stole it because I emailed him back in January, along with six other people who I trust. Thats the people who give me constructive criticism in all my stuff, like homies. I knew K.E. for years, so he was one of those people. I knew he could get the record placed and Keith had no problem placing the record for me. And they get what they deserve for placing the record. I even got him on the phone with Keith after he attempted to sign me for multiple days and take 40 percent of my publishing and all of this. Pretty much, got Keith on the phone and just didnt like that I guess. [He] pretty much tried to blackmail me.
You know how Young Chop made Dont Like and Kanye came and tweaked it? Its a familiar story.
Actually, if Kanye tweaked my beat and got me that much buzz, I wouldnt be upset [Laughs]. But this, he was completely trying to take the credit when I made the beat. I sent him the beat. The full beat. He had me coming over to his condo and he basically complimented the way I sampled. The whole situation, he tricked me to playing the sample and then he tried to go in and redo what I did and all that stuff. He went the extra mile and thats why I was so upset. And thats why I handled it the way I handled it. But I still did it respectfully. You dont hear me cussing nobody out. I said what it was.
Its safe to say that this record will be placed on Mastermind. How excited are you?
Im finally to starting to get excited. [Laughs]. Honestly, I only heard the record one time. Even if I knew from earlier, I really only listened to a first few seconds. Even when I knew from earlier yesterday, I didnt listen to the full thing till about 9, 10 p.m. I was just so upset, just for the fact that I predicted it.

Oh yeah, definitely. I could really call him outyou know what I am saying? But Im not going to stoop to his level. He disrespected me but I am hoping he had some type of conscious and sees I dont have to be like him. And maybe hell change the way he does business because clearly he does it to a lot of people in the streets, he just got away with it a lot of times. He should have known better when he spoke to Keith Sweat cause Keith Sweat is my manager. Keith Sweat is like my family.

I cant see it. At the end of day, he did give me my biggest Christmas gift I could ever ask for. Its just so crazy. Its the biggest Christmas gift I could ask for. I got Jay Z and Ross on one of my beats. At the end of the day, thank you K.E.
