Relapse Receives Marketing Boost On Twitter

    With the release of Relapse [click to read], rapper Eminem’s [click to read] highly anticipated album, taking place today it’s safe to say that micro-blogging Website Twitter [click to watch] has helped in marketing the album since it was announced last year.

    For months now Eminem’s Twitter page has consisted of behind the scenes updates, exclusive pictures, and even eerie messages like “There’s no place to hide …” All of which have been marketing techniques used to hype the May release of Relapse.

    With the Twitter phenomenon spreading everyday artists have found new and creative ways to keep their fans in the loop.

    Twitter is, in a way, the world of ‘stans’ who now have access to artists,” Elliott Wilson, founder of RapRadar.com and former editor of XXL told Ad Age. “…Using the service in a real typical promotion way, the fact that he’s willing to be part of that, to be in that world, has helped him build up mystery around the record.”

    According to TweetReach and Ad Age, a single Tweet by Eminem reached 41,704 people in the span of only one week. And Native Digital claims that Eminem was the most talked about artist on Twitter last week.
