Redman Provides “Muddy Waters 2” Album, Mixtape Update

Redman announced his Muddy Waters 2 album in 2012 and has an update on the project, which he says will also come as a mixtape.

“Muddy Waters 2 the mixtape and Muddy Waters 2 the album for next year, and then Blackout 3 and How High 2possibly, maybe,” Redman says during an interview with XXL. “Got a lot of things in the works, man.

“I’m just working in the studio right now,” he adds later in the article. “I’m trying to get Muddy Waters 2: The Mixtape out by the end of October, and the album next year, around April.”

Redman says that both Muddy Waters 2 projects will feature all original music.

“Usually when I drop a mixtape it’ll be some original and then some over other people’s beats, but this one is gonna be all original so I can distribute it and get the mixtape heard more,” he says. “You know, with mixtapes, a lot of people hear it but I still wanted it to circulate more so that more people hear it.”

In March, Redman discussed the difference between the original Muddy Waters album and its second installment.

“I’m not trying to top the Muddy Waters album,” he said at the time. “What I’m doing by naming it Muddy Waters 2 is to let you relive that ’90s kind of sound and experience. It’s not gonna be sounding too much New Wave. Not too much high hats, you know the fast high hats? None of that… I’m using samples, so that’s why I’m calling it Muddy Waters 2. Even fuckin’ muddier.”

    1. redmans def in my top 10. cant wait to hear both. if it really is that old classic sound and REAL redman shit ill do what i rarely do now adays..buy it.

      1. you aint lying either. mmlp2 fell victim to that..so did blueprint 3.. few others. shit better be crazy

only raekwon did his classic justice.

    2. So, exactly when is MW2 dropping? What’s the latest word? Redman is way overdue for a solid album. As dope as he is, Muddy Waters is his only album that bangs from front to finish. Whut Thee Album was solid, but his second-best album.

    3. RedMan’s catalog Is One of The Most Consistent In HipHop.

Whut Thee Album is Damn Near Classic.

Dare iz A Darkside Is Maaad Underrated.

      Doc’s The Name Was Crazy!

      1. Whut Thee Album is definitely a classic! One of the best debut albums around. He killed it on that album and E. Sermons production was perfect!

    4. lol nobody will buy a album from this old bum. Retire old man we are tired with your raps about smoking weed. Grow the fuck up you aint 18 anymore.

      1. rap fans are the worst..could you imagine fans in other genres telling their legends that shit..rap fans are by far the worst music fans in the world.

      2. my friend in other genres the artists:

        – do not beef for attention everyday on the internet
        – not claimed to be a pimp or a maffia don (which is childish for men who are 35 years or older)
        – they grow as human beings and not wear sagging pants and cahins and gold teeth
        – they dont call every men a nigga and women bitches
        – they not attention whores
        – they respect eachother

        – etc.

    5. I cringe when I think of a 40year + man rapping about selling drugs, smoking weed and acting like a teenager.

Redman shouldn’t bother — too old, too late, washed up and over the hill. The album will sell about 38 copies the first week.

And the mixtape! Ain’t nobody gonna download that shit, even if it was for free. Redman needs to pay us money to download that bullshit.

      1. Redman doesn’t rap about selling drugs! How does he act like a teenager? I’m betting that you’re not familiar with any of his music. I suggest you attend one of his shows. Hands down, Redman is in the top five mc’s for putting on a great show. Redman, Method Man, Busta…… You don’t need to listen to his music, just let it pass you buy and you can save your money for some bullshit. Leave real hip hop to real hip hop fans

      2. Thats funny becuase method man and redman are on tour right now. I went to see them last week, it was a sellout crowd of young and “Old” people. Im 29 grew up on 90s music so i guess that makes me old compared to a 15 year old. Point is the crowd wasnt all 30 or over or 30 or younger it was a good mix of both, meth and red got young fans too

      3. why? if I was getting paid 5 – 20g’s to rap some songs id do that shit till I was 90. Should he retire from rap n stack boxes for 9 bucks an hour fuck ya talkin bout

    6. I crying when choir boys that stopped playing La Cross comment on Hip Hop. Their delusional thinking and irrational behavior growing up telling their mom to “shut up” in Central Park they think they can come on the Internet and type negative feedback to legends, knowing they type what they won’t say on South Orange Ave & Bergen St. The fact that the overgrown 8 year old who still gets pushed in a stroller at WalMart commenting on Hip Hop culture is the reason Hip Hop cannot move beyond this point where you can have an intelligent conversation about classic catalog. Therefore I cringe at the thought that you were aloud a platform to have your comments posted on a site that can’t get you beat up or checked once someone with knowledge of self sees you

    7. smh these old niggas dont know when its time to retire.

      whats next:

      – blackout 10
      – ob4cl 5
      – do or die 6
      – documentary 4
      – blueprint 4

Like ODB said it: rap is for the kids!

      1. “Wu-Tang is for the children.” If you’re going to quote somebody do it right… unless you aspire to work for news media.

These youngins cut niggas too many breaks. We didnt care how old you were or what you sold it was about skill. Now you got these kids sticking up for weak niggas because their young. Id rather listen to an oldman that kills shit instead of some wack ass muthafucka on a trap beat. Quit giving rappers props on beats too unless they produce themselves i hate when niggas say yo that young thug tight the beat goes hard nigga young hug dont make beats and, he wack.
