Redman and Boosie Badazz have weighed in on the ongoing Pusha T and Jim Jones battle following the pair exchanging diss records.

HipHopDX caught up with Red and Boosie on the red carpet at the 2023 BET Awards on Sunday (June 25), as well as Erick Sermon. While none of the guys are sure who’d take the crown in a battle between Jim and Push, they all agree that there’s a lot of talent between the pair.

“It wasn’t bad,” Sermon said of Jim’s diss record. “I was shocked though too because again, Jim came up late. As far as the lyrics and him spitting the rhyme, it was dope. [But] Pusha T is a real lyricist, for real.”

“I heard some of Pusha T’s joint, but I ain’t hear Jim yet – but I know when Jim puts his mind to it, he goes in,” Redman added.

Boosie said: “I don’t know [who would win]. That [battle] would be a good one though.”

The pair’s war of words ignited last week when Pusha T appeared to take aim at Jim Jones in an unreleased Clipse song debuted at Pharrell’s first Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week.

While he didn’t name names, the former G.O.O.D. Music President accused his foe of “chasing a feature out of your element” — seemingly referencing Jones’ love for his bitter rival Drake — while dropping more clues with references to repossession, reality TV and allegedly fake jewelry.

In response, the “We Fly High” hitmaker dismissed Pusha T’s bars as “not a Top 50 verse” before jacking his beat and firing back with “Summer Collection.”

The issue was first sparked months earlier, when Jim Jones made disparaging comments about Pusha T being ranked No. 29 on Billboard‘s Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list. Per Capo, the Grammy-nominated lyricist doesn’t deserve such a plaudit.

“What has he done that puts him in the greatest rappers of all time besides talk about coke that he probably didn’t get himself?” Jones asked during an appearance on the Rap Caviar Podcast in April.
