Rapsody, Common & More Spark Awareness At Kentucky Breonna Taylor Rally

Various artists headed to The Bluegrass State on Thursday (June 25) to rally in the name of Breonna Taylor.

Common, Rapsody, MC Lyte, Mysonne and Jada Pinkett Smith were among those in attendance at the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort as people demanded the arrests of the officers involved in Taylor’s murder. The late EMT’s family and Ahmaud Arbery’s mother were also in attendance.

Common performed a poem at the rally, dedicated to Taylor and all black women.

“I’m a black man who was raised by a black woman,” the Chicago native began. Not only because I was raised by a black mother and a grandmother who helped shape me, but because I have a daughter who is a growing black woman. I stand up for black women because it’s what I’m supposed to do. It’s what I’m chosen to do. As a child of God, I stand up for black women because standing up for black women is standing u for humanity.”

Earlier this month, Beyoncé wrote a letter to Kentucky’s Attorney General Daniel Cameron urging for justice for Taylor, who was killed by Louisville police inside her own apartment on March 13. While one cop involved has since been fired, the other two remain on administrative leave and none of the three are in prison.

      1. Lol. But it’s still gud. Every little helps. And compared to Kanye supporting trump. J Cole and Kendrick too scared to even tweet BLM. Beyonce called a “humanitarian” for her marketing team occasionally sharing a petition. Compared to this Etc – compared to a very low bar, it’s positive

        1. J Cole, Kendrick, Kanye and Lil Wayne just signaled to your asses that they’re not supporting Marxist’s lesbians who run BLM. That activist group wants to get rid of the black man as head of the house forever….recognize that. These dudes walked off the plantation. That’s real power. You can see that J Cole bended over though. He was at some march. He just doesn’t obsess over it. I’m guessing he isn’t fully invested and don’t blame him. Black men need to raise black boys to be strong. Lesbian activists don’t have no business destroying black family values. Don’t be surprised when more black people denounce BLM; it’s coming .

    1. Hey everyone. Don’t shoot at the cops. End of concert. For the encore… Don’t fuck anyone who would merit a no knock warrant, that on top of that would shoot at cops as well. Drive safe.
