Rapper Gets Prison Time For Cop-Killing Song

When rapper Antavio Johnson wrote the song “Kill Me A Cop” in his teen years and uploaded it onto a Myspace page, the possibility of future consequences was certainly not expected. Now, years later, Johnson is facing a two-year sentence for the aggressive lyrics he used in the song.

According to authorities, the 20-year-old rapper expressed his desire to kill two Lakeland, Florida officials in the song, which detectives found while researching gang-related activity on Myspace.com. On the track, Johnson calls the two officers out by name–one male and one female– and claims that they had harassed him during an earlier incident. In the song, Johnson announces, “I’ma kill me a cop one day,” and threatens to shoot the officers in the “dome” with a “glock” if they ever “get my timing wrong.”

Already serving time for a probation violation related to cocaine use, the legitimacy of Johnson’s added two years in prison is being questioned by the public. Many wonder if Johnson’s sentencing is unconstitutional and if it goes against the right to free speech. The American Civil Liberties Union, which is backing Johnson, maintained that “We [shouldn’t] punish bad thoughts in America.” However, not all speech is protected under the Constitution. Florida state law deems it a third-degree felony to harm or threaten to harm public servants, their families, or people they care about.

Discontent with police officers, however, is nothing new in the rap genre. More than 20 years ago, N.W.A. boldly challenged authorities with their protest record “Fuck Tha Police” while Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s “Deep Cover” years later talked explicity about murdering police officials.

Previously, Johnson could not obtain a lawyer, but he has recently obtained one, as well as the support of the ACLU.

    1. WHAT A DIFFERENT A RACE OF A MAN MAKES IN AMERICA BLACK AND WHITE

Bay9 reports “An aspiring rapper will serve two years in state prison after a song he posted on MySpace caught the attention of law enforcement. Antavio Johnson pleaded no contest to two charges related to threatening a public servant. The charges stem from a song entitled “Kill Me A Cop” that he posted on MySpace under the pseudonym T.O. In the song, Johnson makes specific references to fallen officers. The lyrics includes lines like “Call me crazy, but I think I fell in love with the sound of hearing the dispatcher say, ‘Officer down.'”

Under Florida law, it’s illegal to threaten harm against any public servant. Johnson was arrested after a Polk County detective heard about the song. At the time of the arrest, he was already in the Polk County Jail for violating his probation on drug charges. He was sentenced to two years in state prison, but he could have received up to a 15-year sentence. In addition to his MySpace recordings, Johnson is also listed on the Holy Hip-Hop Database as a Christian rapper.”

Now I remember in the first The Godfather movie Michael Corleone is a fictional character in Mario Puzo’s novels, and in the movie. Michael Corleone states who say you cant kill a cop ? Then in the same movie the fictional character murder the cop! He reaffirms his loyalty at his father’s bedside, then thwarts a second attempt on his father’s life by Sollozzo and corrupt NYPD Captain McCluskey. Later, arguing that Sollozzo will likely take another run at Vito, he volunteers to kill both Sollozzo and McCluskey. Sonny, who is running the family in their father’s absence, refuses at first; it has long been a hard and fast rule in the Mafia that policemen are not to be harmed just brought. However, Michael convinces Sonny that since McCluskey is a corrupt police officer serving as Sollozzo’s bodyguard, he has crossed into their world and is fair game. After caporegime Peter Clemenza plants a gun for him, Michael kills both cop and the other Mafia gang member at a restaurant.

Mario Puzo nor anyone associated with The God father when to jail or prison! Matter of fact there have been many white Mafia gang movie made after The Godfather. Where cops have been murder and even dirty on the take cops. But white crime is glorify in America! These are not white people who you want to have over for dinner to the family home. They are rapist, murderers, drug dealers and more! That stand over men and villains of the highest order. And the fact that so many of them remain at large is testament to the lengths they will go to avoid conviction. Also to the American white control law enforcement who are just as criminal! Not to mention the depths the corruption seeps within the police force and court system, taking bribes and turning a blind eye to witness disappearances and illegal prostitution to name just a few.!!!

Antavio Johnson a black rapper goes to prison for two years for writing a song about killing a cop! No freedom of speech no creative art for Antavio Johnson!!! Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one’s opinions and ideas via speech.
