June began with a few highly anticipated releases slated for the month, but lost a few along the way. Lil’ Wayne’s Tha Carter IV moved from June 21st to the end of August (29th) along with Ja Rule’s Pain Is Love 2. However, June isn’t lacking in the heat department. Today indie emperor Tech N9ne drops his long-awaited All 6’s and 7’s. A substantial number of leaks have arrived from Tech’s release, including the most recent “F*ck Food” with T-Wayne (T-Pain and Lil Wayne). On the other side of the indie spectrum, posse collab Hail Mary Mallon (Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic & DJ Big Wiz) drop Are You Gonna Eat That? No word yet on if Ja Rule’s The Renaissance Project will miss the mark and arrive in August too.
Next week (June 14th) brings Eminem and Royce da 5’9’s Hell: The Sequel as their collaborative Bad Meets Evil project. Tracks like “Loud Noises” with Slaughterhouse and “Lighters”
with Bruno Mars have been the most recent leaks. Em and Royce share a release date with another group project, Random Axe, whose same titled album features Sean Price, Guilty Simpson, and Black Milk. In a surprise entry, Gorilla Zoe drops The Prequel on the 14th too.
While June is bringing some good music, July looks even more promising as Dr. Dre’s Detox finally gets a July 26th release date. Fingers crossed that it sticks.
