Questlove has announced that he’s partnered with Pfizer in an attempt to further educate people on COVID-19.

The Roots drummer took to Instagram on Thursday (January 12) to announce the partnership in a carousel post that included a commercial about how to be more properly prepared to fight the virus. His caption shared a similar sentiment.

“Big things are coming in 2023! Y’all know when I take on a project it’s because it represents something really important to me,” Quest began. “So, sharing the news that I’ve joined up with @Pfizerinc to encourage y’all to get smarter with me and Know Plan Go when it comes to #COVID19.

“There are a lot of reasons why losing weight can improve your health but being on the heavier side actually puts me at high risk for severe COVID-19, which was a bit of a wake-up call,” he continued. “This is why I’m joining up with Pfizer to make sure everyone understands what risk factors they may have, including being overweight, that could put them at high risk of getting very sick from the virus.

“KNOW your risk of getting severe COVID-19, PLAN ahead before the virus strikes & be prepared to GO ask your healthcare provider about authorized oral treatment options if you are at high risk and test positive.”

The post arrived on the same week Lupe Fiasco ended up in a heated debate about the vaccine with fellow rapper Chris Webby. The pair went back and forth on Twitter on Wednesday (January 11) after Lupe argued his pro-vaccine stance.

“I’m no longer responding to people regarding vaccines, bill gates, ‘THEY’s’, conspiracy theories or the government with people with less than 200,000 Followers,” Lupe wrote.

Chris Webby responded: “Sore loser to boot eh? And deleting your tweets after previously mocking others for deleting theirs because you, and I quote, ‘destroyed their points’ .. To imagine you used to be this guy.”

Webby included a Genius screenshot about his 2011 song “Words I Never Said” criticizing the U.S. government and challenging the status quo.

Lupe responded to Webby by asking him to have a proper conversation about the topic on Twitter Spaces, to which he obliged – noting that he’d “get booted from IG” for his stance on the vaccine.

The pair later locked horns over the vaccine on Twitter Spaces, with Lupe in support of the vaccine and Webby fully against it. You can listen to their conversation here.
