Quavo & Kamala Harris To Discuss Gun Violence At Atlanta’s Rocket Foundation Summit

Quavo is set to discuss gun violence with Vice President Kamala Harris at his inaugural Rocket Foundation Summit later this month.

Going down in Atlanta on Tuesday (June 18), the event will see the former Migos rapper honor his late nephew and groupmate TakeOff on what would have been his 30th birthday.

According to a report from Variety, Quavo will hold a fireside chat with VP Harris to “discuss the methods and approaches that must be taken to decrease gun violence and protect communities.”

This is not the first time the pair have come together to tackle this issue. In September, Huncho, his mother and TakeOff’s mother visited the White House to meet with Harris and begin conversations on figuring out some solutions to the ongoing issue that ultimately took TakeOff’s life.

“I feel like your calling comes at the least expected times,” he told the AP following the meeting.

“You don’t think nothing is going to happen. I need to step up to the plate and hit a homerun,” he continued. “I have to do something about it, so it won’t happen to the masses — especially in our culture. I don’t want this to happen to the next person. I want to knock down these percentages.”

“We need to do better with the control of guns,” Quavo continued. “We need to figure out how do we keep these types of incidents from happening to people going anywhere and thinking they can hurt somebody where it shouldn’t happen.”

After their meeting, Vice President Kamala Harris took to Instagram to thank the “Walk It Talk It,” hitmaker and his family members for coming to the White House.

“Thank you @quavohuncho, Edna, and Titania for using your voices to honor TakeOff’s legacy and call for action to prevent gun violence,” she said.

While he and his family were at The White House, Quavo was also a part of a panel discussion alongside Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, Rep. Lucy McBath, and Greg Jackson of the Community Justice Action Fund.

The conversation centered around community intervention tactics, the issue of gun violence itself, and the power in advocacy.

    1. Oh please, discuss it all you want….. won’t make a blind bit of difference, but as long as it ticks the box to look like you’re doing something, that’s okay.

    2. There’s a conference that feels the need to invite quavo to speak on the panel? Atlanta itself has multiple academic institutions with staffs full of scholars but quavo is the choice. Good one kamala
