PinkPantheress Fumbled Kendrick Lamar Feature Because Of Movie Date’s Request

PinkPantheress is a newcomer in the game and is still learning from her mistakes along the way – including missing out on a Kendrick Lamar feature because of a man she was on a date with.

The British singer opened up about the major fumble in a conversation with i-D Magazine published on Thursday (November 2) – and it’s definitely not something she likes to recall.

“I’m not trying to date, even though I love dating,” she began, before explaining that the K.dot mishap happened when she went on a movie date and the guy asked her to put her phone on silent. “Oh fuck, I can’t even think about it. I was watching Nightcrawler with this guy.”

Despite missing out on a Kendrick Lamar feature, PinkPantheress is still doing quite well for herself – netting a now 3x-platinum hit single with Ice Spice and a Barbie soundtrack cameo, among other things, in just a few short years in the game.

As for Kendrick, he recently threw Taylor Swift an alley-oop and re-recorded his verse from her 2015 “Bad Blood” remix for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) – and she’s beyond thrilled with the results.

On Friday (October 27), Swift released the LP, which is a re-recording of her 2014 album 1989. The release is part of the pop star’s project to create new versions of her first six albums, due to a dispute with her former record label Big Machine.

As part of the deluxe version of the new release, Swift got Lamar back in the studio to re-record his part on a Hip Hop re-imagining of “Bad Blood” that was originally released as a non-album single back in 2015.

Swift posted on Instagram to announce that Lamar had re-created his parts for the redone version of the track.

“Watching @kendricklamar create and record his verses on the Bad Blood remix was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life,” Swift wrote. “I still look back on this collaboration with so much pride and gratitude, for the ways Kendrick elevated the song and the way he treats everyone around him.”

Swift also recalled how crowds on her recent tour would react to the song, writing: “Every time the crowds on The Eras Tour would chant his line ‘you forgive, you forget, but you never let it… go!’, I smiled.”

The singer then thanked Lamar for re-recording his raps “so that I could reclaim and own this work I’m so proud of.” She called the experience “surreal and bewildering.”
