There have been a very limited number of shows on the radio over the past few years that have provided underground artists with their moment to shine. Sway & Tech were responsible for having countless artists gain the initial recognition that led to signing record deals, they are off the air. Bobbito and Stretch did the same thing on their show, they are off the air too. One of the last standing shows was Hot 97’s “Future Flavas,” unfortunately that show has met it’s untimely death as well.
The only underground show on America’s biggest radio station is no more, and apparently it is due to Funkmaster Flex. While this is not official at this point, word is that Flex had a beef with Pete Rock and Marley Marl, the hosts of the show. There is also a rumor circulating that WBLS will snatch up the show. More on this as it develops.
