Pastor Troy has given his take on rappers and the rise of Glock switches during a segment on Atlanta’s Channel 2 Action News.

Airing on Monday (February 20), the segment investigated the large number of Glock switches that have been popping up in the metro Atlanta area. A switch can turn a gun into a fully automatic weapon, and rappers frequently mention them in their lyrics.

Channel 2′s Michael Seiden sat with Pastor Troy to get his thoughts on the trend that’s allowing people to let off a full clip in less than a second and a half.

“A lot of people incorporate the violence in the music and stuff like that, praying that nobody messes with them, you know, trying to make it as a threat where they probably think they’re big and bad, but a lot of them aren’t. That’s just some music,” the Atlanta rapper said.

He added: “Everybody wants people to think they’re big and bad no matter what. You know what I mean? It’s almost like a security blanket, man. I got this gun.”

Lil Zay Osama was arrested in September in New York City after an Uber driver who chauffeured Zay and two of his friends from Manhattan to a studio alerted authorities that his passengers had left a gun in the car.

The weapon in question was a Glock 22.40, which had been enhanced with a switch device. About a month later, Lil Zay Osama posted a $1million bail to secure his release on October 29.

T.I. spoke about the issue with United States and gun control during an episode of Comedy Central’s Hell Of A Week with Charlamagne Tha God last October. Tip expressed that he’s not convinced the United States can ever truly embrace gun control during an un-aired portion of the taping, according to AllHipHop.

“Gun control in this country – that sounds like an oxymoron, a little bit,” he said. “The country was founded on firepower, who has the most ability to pose the biggest threat.”
